I still go out to clubs with some of my old employees, and a few of them are bonified, grade A players. The truth is, they're not "bad" guys...they have a look, and an "nothing phases me" attitude that just seems to work with women.
The more they "play", the more women are attracted to them. I knew a guy in my dorm freshmen year in college named "Sergio", who wasn't the best looking guy in the world, but probably deflowered most of the coed's in the immediate vicinity...mostly because his reputation proceded him.
There's probably a hidden, unacknowledged insecurity in men who use women for sexual conquests--a constant reaffirmation of their virility from others. Of course, if women ONLY chose to date the nice, respectful boy next door who doesn't cheat, and calls when he's supposed to, the "player" issue wouldn't exist.
