Interracial Dating on the Football Field?

WHITE WOMEN AND BLACK MEN: CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN BLACK MEN AND WHITE WOMEN: Interracial Dating on the Football Field?

It is a profound asymmetry and it goes to the heart of how men and women unconsciously view their roles in society. Is this natural, are men and women born thinking this way?

Of course not all pro-atheletes are "players" but, many, if not most men secretly have a part of themselves that actually look up to the "player" image.

There is a double standard. Wilt Chamberland can say that he has slept with over 20,000 women in his life-time and he is "THE MAN." Sports casters will say the he was a great man in life and in basketball. Imagine the reaction, from both men and women, if a famous woman said she has slept with over 20,000 men?

I just want to say that not all professional athletes are "players" and should be looked down upon. Unfortunately, we only hear about the athletes that cheat, lie, and use women. But it is not fair to dump all of them into the same category. My boyfriend is a professional basketball player that has more morals and self-respect than anyone I know. We have been together for almost two years. And I hate when people assume that I am with him because of his status or money. I was with him before any of this happened or anyone thought he had a career in pro basketball. I love him for the person he is and trust him 100%!

Frangiapani, I'm with you. I have found I can speak with a BM in a way I haven't encountered with any other. Only a little is given to physical appearence, initial attraction, I can appreciate a beautiful man, however it always comes down to the feeling ignited deep inside of me, that feeling I listen to that guides my way. As far as the football athlete thing, it reflects popular culture, our modern day heros and status, many women are seduced by power, that in turns gives then some sort of false sense of importance. So this behavior will continue and will enrage many WM & BW. I think it will perpetuate stereotypes which seems to be the only thing the general public is interested in anyway, nobody wanta to here a truth that doesn't gel with their preconcieved notions

There is a new football league in town, and it's called the XFL (eXtreme Football League). As many of you know, not only are the players and cheerleaders allowed to date, but they will be ENCOURAGED to date. What will this mean? Since the vast majority of football players are black, and the vast majority of cheerleaders are white, this could lead to more tension between black men and black women, especially those who are athletes. This could further complicate race issues even more. This could also help to heighten the stereotypes whites have about black men, and the stereotypes blacks have about white women. Or it could just force America to accept the inevitability of IRs.

Definetley not!!!, speaking for myself, A Black man with a great body is a nice thing to have, but it always goes deeper than that. I dont know, ever since I was little Ive been attracted to Black men, not just physically, but some black men out there are so special, the type I can have a really deep long conversation with. Without sounding weird, does anyone else think this?, that black men, not all, but some that Ive been lucy enough to meet, have a certain kind of soul, like they are on another level? Anyway, theres always women who are superficial and date Famous black men and the football heroes just because they are big, rich, and all the rest of that. Yeah, they are usually physically attractive, well known and wealthy, and who wouldnt want a guy like that?, I know it would be hard for me to say no if someone like Charles Barkley asked me out, but for me anyway, it does go a lot deeper than that.

This subject was something I was going to post some time ago, but did not, because I did not think it was of any revelance, until I saw the article on AOL's news billboard concerning football players dating cheerleaders. AOL had a photo of a black football player and a white cheerleader's picture side to side. Now the story does not mention that this is interracial, but I know from the stories and conversations of those in the know, that white women are pursueing these top athletes, most who are black. Times have certainly changed.

There does not seem to be no hiding the fact anymore that white women are openly going after black football players and dating them. I think that the media is having a hard time concealing this interracial drama, because of the not so secret sexual details of interracial romance that was let out of the box during the O.J. Simpson trial. Also, during that trial some of the information that came out for the world to know about white women's sexual desires for athletic black men, and their willingness to date and marry them, especially after Simpson's wife Nicole said to a trusted friend about her sexual relationship with Marcus Allen (O.J.'s friend) during a time of O.J.s philandering with other white women.

I remember a conversation I had with a white female during the O.J. Simpson Saga, I asked, "why are so many white women attracted to these black ball players", and she would say, "because they are so big". I asked for clarification, she would only say, "you know what I mean". I hope that its not just for the sex. Will IR conquer the football field as it has begun on the Professional Basketball court. Remember the case of Dr. J (Juluis Erving and his interracial fling that produced a bi-racial child, who is a world champion tennis player).

Interracial love in professional sports is about to make its presence known to the world, again. I remember a woman who use to be on this site named "June", who once said, "white women will go after the best black men in sports, business and all fields". This for me was the most astonishing statement I've ever heard from a white woman. Is this the sign of things to come? ~ Roberto
