Lots of parents complaining about the styles of dresses the youngsters had to choose from around here, too. So, some teenagers started calling the local stores to complain and ask them why there were not more of a variety of style in dresses to choose from. The store got the message, but do not know yet what they will do about it or have done.

My youngest daughter who graduated from high school two years ago still talks about her prom night, because I had my son oversee her activities, which she has never forgived me for. Well, that is the way it use to be done, right! She brought over one of her girl friends from a local high school this past weekend to show off the new craze, "the two-piece prom dress". My jaw dropped to my knees.

When her friend asked for my wife's apporval, of course she went along. When she asked for my approval, I said, "it was fitting for a bedroom engagement". Well, after a sharp strike with the elbow from the wife, I apologize for my insensitive remark.

This "two-piece dress", which is said to be the influence of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera (whatever happened to Janet Jackson) is the new look to break tradition for young girls today. It's bad enough that young men do not respect them as ladies, and consider them "easy women" or "women of loose moral pursuits", we now have dresses that look like night gowns or negligees to wear to the prom. There are other trends to that are coming, according to my oldest son (who is a part time model). The dresses come at anywhere from $100 to $300 a pop. My son tells me to get with it. He said that he has been modeling with women with this design for months to get ready for the prom.

Some schools here are already saying that this kind of dress is inappropiate, and would not allow young women to wear it. The school administrators are saying that its prohibited to allow girls to reveal their belly buttons. With the other craze "beyond dirty dancing", in which young people dance to the sexual movements of intercourse, it seems that the teachers, and school officials really are dealing with changing times with little or no caring on the part of a majority of the parents. ~ Roberto
