WHITE WOMEN AND BLACK MEN: CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN BLACK MEN AND WHITE WOMEN: -Role Models-

The issue of role models is a broad one in scope. More often then nought many people expect to place the mantle of being a role model on someone to be and act according to the whims and changes of the views of other people who have cast them in the role model category. There is mass ignorance in respects to the responsibility that people hand over for others to provide and be the icons for them to follow after and why.

Who is a role model?

What makes a role model?

Why aren't YOU a role model?

What do role models do?

Who picks role models (the media, religion, peers, you, who?)?

What role models have been important to you and why? Did you pick them or did society pick them for you?

These are some of the questions people should be asking themselves. And yet if more people would get off their butts and start making their own dreams and goals come true then not only would they be too busy to peg someone a role model but would actually serve as one themselves by default of their hard work and accomplishments no matter how large or small.

For example, the interracial relationships between black men and white women (indeed, all interracial relationships) would seem nearly devoid of role models. Yet the testimonies of many of the people on this very board may have served as a role model of security and strength for someone out there enduring hard times in their interracial endeavors who may be reading these accounts...
