No, they aren't and it blows my mind. Tam posted some really interesting stuff on the MLK memorial today, and his history. It reminded me that some of my very earliest memories, at 4 or 5, had to do with seeing civil rights protesters being hosed, and beaten on television and knowing that was just WRONG and not just.

Seems like a lot of people have forgotten the lessons we were taught back then. :-(

Subtly when out about 4 months after President Obama's election. The racists are threatened by a black man with power.

Cosign wholeheartedly with what you guys are saying.

The true nature and mentality of a lot of folks are coming to the forefront ever since Obama got into office, I mean some aren't even PC about it any more.

I mean look at what she stated, "Jennifer Delany's email to Lewis' campaign said, in part, "Imagine having dark skin and name recognition and the nerve to think that equaled knowing something about politics."

What does having dark skin have to do with the equation. For that to even be mentioned tells us what lies at her heart.

I'm not shocked, nothing in this world surprises me any longer. When blacks speak of being stereotyped this is a classic example of why.

This is Carl Lewis, a man who has won accolades the world over for this nation internationally, imagine if he wasn't well known. SMDH.

What is even more telling is as you read the responses in the original story link, you have some folks who actually see nothing wrong with it and what is the big deal. We probably walk by those kind of folks every single day in life.

Its always about control indeed. Some people cannot help themselves about being ignorant, bigoted louts.

Why can't Lewis just be a man who knows nothing about politics, what does him being black have to do with a single part of the equation, unless someone is looking to make assumptions based on his race and thus its introduction in the first place.

Even though that Black man's power is an illusion.

Like the presidents that preceeded him...Obama has ZERO power.

The power is on WALL STREET.

I agree my friend, but the racist see the President as having power because as we all know they are simply ignorant fucks.

Exactly, along with their cohorts that crawl the corridors of Washington, D.C. sweetening and fattening up our "so called" elected representatives.

The power in this nation is the face of Washington, Lincoln, Hamilton, Jackson, Grant and Franklin, that is it for the presidents's with power, dead Presidents that is and that one guy that invented a lot of shit. :D

Damn...I highly doubt that Delany didn't know about his wife's view of African Americans & politics.

I wonder if the clown who wrote this letter and the people who agree with her were just as pissed off about white people celebrities like Sonny Bono, Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura running for office.

Or if their race had to ever be called out in regard to them running for public office, thus the issue at hand with such a comment by her.

It just goes to show you what I have said about America, there is this fervent obsession with defining people by race.

You are black so you must be such and such, falling into some stereotype, irrespective of who you are as a person.

Carl Lewis has represented this nation around the world admirably and this is what you have to hear from some jackass.

I can only imagine what life was like for a black person of past generations, that shit must have been hell to be in the Deep South where racism was so entrenched in the mindset that to this day some can't free themselves of such thoughts.

No matter what you accomplish as a black person, there is someone always poking their head up to scream "nigger" because they think their skin color is a merit of honor for them. That should tell us all we need to know right there.

When race, gender or orientation is mentioned, it's a dead give away to the writer/speaker's agenda.

Very true, the bigot's tag line however is "they're not into being PC"

No of course not, they are just into being an asshole.
