Without a shadow of a doubt, Ron Paul has grown to be a cult favorite among many of the disenchanted people who expected an expedient level of hope and change back in 2008. With his imminent retiring from Congress this year, there won't be a "libertarian crusader" in Congress (save his son). With Paul known for his libertarian philosophy and his consistent record in Congress, his ideas resonate with the disenchanted. However, bear in mind that libertarianism, much like any political ideology, looks good on paper, but in practice the outcomes are more or less questionable at best. Therefore, if Paul wants to prove his ideology to be workable, then he would have to put himself in position of power. While his chances for the Presidential nomination is next to nil, he can still venture out as Governor of Texas. The role of Governor is like being "President" of the state. With all of his talk on libertarianism, perhaps he could put his foot where his mouth is and enact those policies on a state level. After all, Gary Johnson was Governor of New Mexico, and he too is a libertarian and has garnered some levels of success during his time as Governor. So what do you all think? 1.
