Who are you waiting on?

Seems Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all awaiting a Messiah who will come at the end of times. Each is a little different interpretation, but still very similar.

Jews believe in a physical Messiah who has yet to be born who will bring peace to the earth. Christians believe that the Messiah came in the body of Jesus and he died on the cross but that he will have a second coming in physical form during end times. Islam also believes in Jesus (Issa) second coming. Where the differ is they believe he did not die and is still alive in heaven. His second coming will be during the time of the Mahdi.

The Mahdi in Islam is a different man. Sunni believe he has yet to be born, Shia believe he was born and like their belief in Jesus that he is still alive and will return. Both believe he is to come in end times and will rule the world with Issa.

Christians and Muslims also believe in an evil incarnation. Christians call him the Anti-Christ, Muslims call him the ad-Dajjal (deceiver). Both faiths believe he will be slayed by Jesus/Issa. Both believe it will happen in the end times.

All these are Fundamentalists beliefs. People who believe and take the scriptures/hadiths literally.


Does anyone believe these will actually come to pass? Have they already come to pass? Or are they parables for something like inner spiritual battles to come?

 

I do believe in the returning of christ but I don't think that it represents an individual. I believe that a "christ energy" will awaken in groups of people to make right that which is wrong. An actual god-like power will gradually manifest through the DNA of certain people and they shall lead the way.

 

yes, i believe in this. My God, Jesus, will return as scripture says. It is not a fundamentalist view only for Christians, as catholics, moderate mainline churches, evangelical and fundamentalists follow the scriptures the same.

Jesus is the Messiah, as the Jewish Torah says, also do the Christians. As we two share the Same God Jehovah and his son Jesus--Yeshua H'amashiach

 

I'm waiting for the period in which man becomes enlightened progress beyond the confines of social established structures and practice but according to my faith that will never happen. Man, as a whole will never grow.

Well...I swear I don`t want to stir muddy water here...but...

although I believe in an entity higher than us, I have a very hard time defining it.

Aren`t we defining everything so precisely (with so little evidence) simply because we really are afraid of the unknown?

Many of us were literally born already believing in something...without ever questioning these beliefs!

I wish we could be better women and men here on earth without the need for a God or for gods to save us, redeem us, come back for us, etc...

Are we grown and intelligent beings or just puppets in the hands of a Higher scientist performing a universe-sized experiment?

No. Not all of us remained in the faith we were raised in.

The thing about religion is you either believe or you dont. It is an exercize in faith. Having free will and choosing to believe and follow Gods word is a beautiful thing. IMHO

While you see those who believe as "afraid of the unknown", I sometimes see those who dont as being afraid to give up control.

 

Interesting. I often wonder about taking the scriptures literally. So much of it was parables anyways.

I read an intersting book on Revelation that said it was a parable discribing the inner struggle man has. Looking at the scripture as a parable for personal growth instead of a foretold battle was very intersting.

Well now, as u talk about faith...which is as the Bible says, the assurance of things hoped for but that we do not yet see...and I add...things we may never see...

I was myself in a Pentecostal church for over 10 years...for the last 5 years I was a praise band leader...I noticed that most people looking for God are in distress, looking for answers to fill The Great Human Void in their heart.

It really seems to me that WE human beings are so smart that we created the idea, totally abstract, of a better place....because it is unbearable for many, rich or poor, to imagine that after death there isn`t a place where we will reach the ultimate quest of man: PEACE OF MIND!

We also created the idea of a CREATOR...bcoz it`s unbearable to be orphans, bastards come from nowhere
And of course, we made him JUST, RIGHTEOUS, STAINLESS...everything we really are not but aspire to be.

I do not however, mind people believing in God, I respect it when it brings out the good in men...what I really despise is the mental domination that beliefs and religions have on Human beings minds, turning them into fanatics without a brain!

Or maybe he came back already, in the form a that little kid
suffering of hunger in Ethiopia and that we could help...bcoz

Well, i dont t hink that is the question on this forum. the question is, who are people waiting on. Some say others, and werent asked what would happen to them, so I dont think that is the question.

Messiah will come again, so there is no answer to that question.

I`m waiting on MEN!!!
MEN that will stand up and FIGHT TOGETHER against poverty in Africa, against the ravages of hurricane Katrina, against....against...I could go on forever...

Instead they are waiting for a hypothetical messiah that would come and save their souls...they forget they have lost their souls becoz they have stopped looking in the eye of small kids in Bangkok or Taiwan, forced to work hours so WE can wear nicer Blue Jeans!

Why THAT part of the brain Diamondlife?

 

I was just reciting a verse from the song "As It Is On Earth" by Ras Kass to say that we are PHYSICAL manifestaions God and that part of the brain represents the "PHYSICAL US" by it's primary function to materialize God's energy in the physical and keep it going.

It's the universal lifeforce or God or the creator or whatever name you you choose to call It that powers that part of the brain to keep our bodily operations automated so that we do not have to consciously will them to do their job. In my opinion it is God(how it manifests in the physical) in it's rawest form thus making it easier to conceptualize and catagorize for linear comprehesion. Some people call it the animal spirit which is nothing more than God's energy "stepped down" from it's pristine state, "spirit" to a much lower vibration in order to create what we call "matter" so that an actual physical body can exist. I could have said "praise be to my neo cortex" which is the newest and most highly developed part of the brain that some call the seat of God , but to try to explain how God functions through it would be too abstract for most people to understand. This is why the ancients created mythologies by personifying areas of our brain and the functions of our brain so that people could paralell the myths to real life and understand how we function as human and spiritual beings.

For instance, could the fallen angel Lucipher be God's pure spirit descending(falling) into matter(a physical body) representing the creation of man? We all are fallen angels because one day we could be thinking the most wondering things and acting in accordance with those thoughts and truly be one with God(neo cortex). Then all of a sudden you see someone of the opposite sex that really turns you on, then you start to fantasize and then that same energy caused God to manifest in your spirit shoots down to the lower portion of your brain, the reptillian brain(the snake of the garden of eden, the devil) and now your are a slave to your passions. That's the fall of man..in my opinion.
