Is the Messiah a Control System?

If any of you watched Matrix Reloaded you saw that Morpheus believed in the ONE(Neo) and that Zion would be saved and the war with the machines would end once Neo opened the door to see the Architech. Neo had a two choices represented by the doors; the first door lead to the salvation of Zion but the sure death of Trinity and the other door lead to having a chance to save Trinity and the probable death of all human beings. Neo walked through the second door. Obviously Morpheus had dreamed of Neo going through the first door and saving Zion hence the prophecy spoken about frequently throughout the trilogy yet all of this was predicated on the "choice" that Neo made. In other words nothing was set in stone that a messiah or the "one" would save anybody. If so, Neo would have walked through the first door and ended it all.

In the movie there was never really 7 different Neos, there were only different timelines of Neo that represented the choices that he HAD ALREADY MADE Remember when the Oracle said to Neo, " You are not here to make the choices, you are here to understand WHY you made them". You see the Ones existed simutaneously in different timeliness and Morpheus had only "dreamt" of one of the probabilities. This was clearly shown on the monitors while Neo was in the Architech's room and all of his "otherselves" were giving different answers.

Is Jesus or any other messsiahs and religions just control systems designed to keep us from empowering ourselves and limiting our choices like Morpheus? When Morpheus realized that Neo did not end the war he said, "I have dreamed a dream and now that dream is gone" Maybe we have been given a dream(control system) Yes, in the end Zion was saved but not how everyone expected it would be saved. Some messiah did not save them, they had to fight for their freedom!!! Yes Neo did sacrifice his life to the machine world to help stop the machines but without the citizens of Zion fighting for themselves and not waiting for some "Pie in the Sky" god they never would have lasted.

We as human beings should not wait on some prophecy to be fulfilled. We should become the ONES and fulfill it ourselves.

Not in the Christian faith, the Messiah is God liberating man from sin and giving the free will gift of Eternal Life!

 

Sometimes I think to myself that it all probably is. This is a Christian nation, and has been ever since it was established, also, there really isn't anywhere you can go in this country without seeing any Christian propaganda, such as bumper stickers, greeting cards, t-shirts, metal chains, DVD's, CD's, churches, and pretty much everything else in between.

isn`t it crazy that we are almost all controlled by these religions often come from other traditions (Hebrew, Asian) filled with their own myths and legends? And we (western countries people) just take everything so literally with our "scientific", and logical minds?!

and of course, the smart and evil powers of these western nations saw an opportunity to use these religions to subdue the people and control them even better!

Look at that crazy and murderous trip they called the crusades, or how the members of the kkk have all these Christian references in their teaching! and the flock...I mean people still follow1

 

Yea, tell me about it. The last time I checked, god never did condone hatred or prejudice within his biblical words anywhere in the bible. I've been in several predominately black and white churches, and have never heard a word about racial superiority and shit like that.

 

And u see Sardonic, this is where religions get very tricky...bcoz in the Old Testament, God did call "his" race, the Israelite, superior...they weren`t allowed for instance, to marry or do anything with the Philistines in the time of Sampson, bcoz they would become impure, marrying impure pagans who believed in "false gods"

Examples are numerous in the Bible or in the Coran where men of God would actually kill these "inferior" people...like Elijah who with his own hands, beheaded hundreds of prophets of Baal...delightful isnt it?

The bible is interpreted and re-written in so many ways until it's hard to even tell what's real or what's been forged.

 

That`s why the worst thing to do is to read it literally and to almost "worship" it as soooooooooooo many people do!!

Religions in general just sicken me...they have taken away so much of our ability to think for ourselves, to be more spiritual and not just traditionally involved with a belief transmitted from generation to generation!

For God`s sake, the first slaves that adhered to the idea of church, etc...just wanted a place to gather, feel good together, even plot against to masters or find a way to escape...it had nothing to do with blindly swallowing the words of a so-called man of God preaching is guts out!

 

There is no free will for 99% of the planet at the present. They are merely selecting one or more of the choices given to them. Their minds are imprisoned by the thoughts given to them.

 

there is always free will and it is for 100% of the planet and has always been. we are free to choose life(Jesus Christ the messiah and Lord) or Death(satan, self, sin).

 

The end is near Tuckerreed, I see the darkness spreading, I see billions of people in despair..praying to Allah, to Jesus, to Jehovah yet none of their prayers are answered.

Well, sweetie, if Oracle started a new thread, it would still hurt your "religious" feelings and those of Tucker and all the "salvation army" ppl on this site...so it doesn`t seem very necessary to me that he should start a new thread...(of course, Oracle you are free to do so if you wish )

But something bothers me...how come Christians have such a hard time taking any type of questioning of their faith?? is it bcoz they have been taught to believe and just...blindly accept what they are taught?? :roll:

The Israelites were not superior, they were his chosen people. The ones he chose to have carry the line of his seed, Jesus, which you can link back to Adam. They were in the old testament. After Jesus was born, they began to teach people of all nations. Jews and Gentiles.

The New World Testament teaches us that God is not impartial.

as used by the Jews of the time and period before and after Christ was seen as a military powerful leader of the chosen people against their oppressors and against the forces of Satan. These two are oftentimes used in congruence but the people of Israel under Roman rule was looking for a rebel leader with the authority of god.
Jesus was seen as one many vying for the title and the fact is Jesus was one of many prophets in operations during that time. Jesus is popular now because his message the complete opposite of what many prophets of the day preached and many of the followers of Christ were Gentiles unwilling to convert to Hebrew customs and doctrine. Paul, the most popular, made it his personal mission to convert those and the rest of the Gentile world to Christs way through teachings rather conversion.
Under Christ way men did not need to be circumcised, conform to the diets of Judaism and many of the other laws that governed the faith.

But more to the point of the subject, the Messiah device, is found in multiple cultures and faiths, some a lot older than the Judeo-Christian faith that dominate the world today. The messiah model is practiced with more fervor when a people is oppressed by a greater adversary.

A good example of this can be seen in the black community today in which the community as a whole wait for the next reincarnation of MLK to lead the people to promise. Martin Luther King fought against the mechanisms that attempted to exult him to that status.

The catholics have a ritual messiah in the form of the Pope. Who is gods word and representative on earth but specifically the holy Catholic church personified. In times of trouble catholics turn to him as the Messiah like persona that will heal their ills rather of the spiritual of physical realm.

The Messiah model is a societal, group control, that fortifies the believer that hope is around the corner that the impossible is possible.

At the risk of offending anyone on the list, with all due respect, I am an atheist, so I do not have a theistic "dog in the hunt," so to speak. I believe in the NATURAL world we live in, and that human beings;mankind is the answer.
All other language constructed or presupposed is HUMAN in origin; it's just been given a moniker such as "The Word Of God."
In fact, it's funny to me because many theists say the word"God" as if it has any more meaning than any other spoken word.All language is human in origin; and that includes "God Language" as well. It's an attempt to explain the natural world around us.But does reality NEED an explanation,or is REALITY self exisistent and objective, therefore needing no explanation?
