Will this coming election be the one of change?

The talking points have already began to be lined up by both parties.
Catchphrase-o-matic has been turned on and running in idle warming for the coming years.

With wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, raising and ever decrease fuel supplies, global warming, immigration, THE PATRIOT ACT, and overall government stupidity is there any light in the partisan jungle.

Every political faction has its own little corner and each stratagem they employ is to further their agenda.

Ethnics have fell prey to this rich man's fancy and now shout about being a republican or democrat when being one or the other is just as useless in a country with falling education standards, poor worker training, limited job avenues for college educated people, no adequate high tier taxing and the universal empathy that come from governmental bureaucracy.

for me the question on the subject line is no. but what about you.

Will you hold onto your partisan rancor and allow for societal atrophy. will you sit on the sidelines and wish for that world where at the very less one does not have to worry about the world in around you ?

What will you do?

 

I choose to be moderate instead. I am not a partisan type by any means. You already mentioned some of why I decide not to be partisan.

 

I know, i have admitted to supporting Republicans in the past, but they're really losing their minds faster and faster. They're screwing up the country(and the world if you wanna go crazy). This is not to say that i am supporting the Dems. I never have and never will, for obvious reasons. I'm not really sure what's next for me in terms of political support.

 

yall know me, sticking with the REpublicans though many are pissing me off big time with not supporting federal marriage amendment; for not being stronger on the illegal immigrant issue. and the spending issue. But there is no other party to support--the greens are a joke and we dont have a viable 3rd party

 

Well, ya'll gonna hate me cause I'm a card carrier for the Dem. party. Quite honestly though folks, as bad as it's been recently with this mideast conflict between Israel and Lebanon heating up, I think this administration has done the best job they could. YEAH I SAID IT. I've tried to give this government the benefit of the doubt and for a change I haven't really been disappointed.

As for my own party, the Democrats need to get off their collective rear ends and stand for something! Even I can see that. We need to speak with one voice and be heard loud and clear. I for one plan to check out these candidates on both sides and make an informed decision there after.

Now, I know I going to get it for this one. But with respect to you "Tuckerreed," any marriage amendment should be more of a states' rights issue. In case you haven't noticed, most all of our states have banned gay marriage. And I believe Massachusetts is revisiting its ruling. The illegal immigrant argument really burns me up because latinos have been crossing into the border states on a more consistent basis over this president's term in office and now it's a problem? Where were the Republicans a couple of years ago when "security" mattered? And don't blame Democrats because Mr. Bush wants a guest worker program. (amnesty by any other name....)

And finally spending. This from a party which prides itself on being fiscally conservative??? Listen "Tucker," I'm not trying to hate on you. I just believe for all the criticism the Democrats get for being the weaking party on most issues, the Republicans don't seem to be all that better on the rest of the issues. And they're the one's in power!! I just think the mentality in the coming elections must be a cliche - "What's in the best interest of the American people."

 

The only reason why the Green Party is considered a joke by many is because those who don't support the Green Party fail to realize that the joke is really on them...

if not, then how do explain the 'progress' with employment, Iraq, Social Security, crime, racism, and home-bound terrorists in our country to this very day?

 

The truth is that we as a country are two party dominate system with minor parties floating around in various regions of the country. These minor parties start with idealism then fade once they can't get enough people to join their party. They are then swallowed by the bigger two parties.

It is sad to say but it is like picking the lesser of two evils.

as i mentioned before i am in the south and many of my peers vote Democratic because who is in the republican party in the south. Mainly former Dixiecrat's who have transfused their political thoughts and beliefs to the republican party. On the national stage there are some attempts to quill this wing but more that not we have dixicans going to former KKK members party functions and making off the cuff remarks about black Americans and the social system of these Americas.

As a black man, it is sad to see the party of Lincoln falter in such a way.

But Democrats are no better. They are for better and worst the associate you know has a small distaste for you but tolerates you because of certain doctrinal principles or eloquent theories. I hear a lot of American Conservatives throw the word liberal around without any clue to what a true liberal is.
And many Democrats fail in this respect as well. Liberalism as seen and believed to be in the American political system is a very different animal than when it was first conceived. All democrats are not liberals and all liberals are not democrats.

Anyway democrat should be spelled with a small d because the capital form contradicts the guiding principals of a democratic society.

And also a democratic society does not mean individual freedom it meant individual equity. Freedom is a concept of the rich and idle whose status placed them above others in society. Democracy is the practice of social and mental/racial/material equals.

It is why the early societies could practice pre-democracy and still hold slaves. It is why empires after practices democratic principles amongst social equals whiles the working class endured bestial treatment.

hellspawn, did you even read my post?? i said the same thing you just said about the Republicans, thats why I said I was pissed off at them. they are spending out of control, are not stronger on dealing with the illegal aliens, not united on passing anti homosexual marriage etc.

 

Me and my brother yesterday were talking about how Black people need their own party. Neither Democrats or Republicans are looking out for our best interests.

And if Hillary Clinton is running I'm definately voting Republican. It's definately over for us if a woman is commander and chief.

 

i am not against a woman being President, even though I am far Right wing conservative. but I wouldnt vote for Hillary. I think Madeline Albright as a Democrat and Condi Rice as a Republican would make good candidates.

 

I kinda like Barbara Bush. (Georgie's wifey) Yes, I admit it, and would take HER over Hilary Clinton, or anyone who's a part of the Bush Administration any day.

Nah, I heard ya. All I was doing was giving my perspective on why the Republicans got in the state they're in now. Again, no personal attack against you. But I'm just sick of people jumping on the Democrats all the time for not supporting the war or not knowing how to win an election. Or something along those lines. So, I just vented.

 

In my opinion, that's the worst thing we could do at this point. Blacks in general already aren't voting consistently, regardless of party affiliation. We need to stick to whatever party we're in and force those cats at the top to listen to our issues and work to resolve them. Starting our own party will only continue to segregate blacks from other ethnic groups, much less the rest of the country. And I don't think I need to reiterate the damage done by racial segregation.

Course, I do feel ya on Clinton. If she manages to get the nomination, I'll vote another party. Not REPUBLICAN, unless....it's Sen. John McCain. Hell, maybe Libertarian or Green party, or something like that. Nothing against a woman president. I just think she'd be the wrong woman.

 

OK, first lady Laura Bush I can see. But grandma?!?! Wasn't she the one who made some disparaging comments about the black evacuees from New Orleans who moved into the Houston area last year??? The same family, mind you, which has benefited from oil and..... Wait. No reason to argue.

It's just that I understand you're far right. I respect that. But, just how could you like that woman???

 

i dont know what she said, but i dont think badly of her. I like her, she to me, a wonderful former first lady.

oil, al gore's family owns Occidental oil in south america, which stripped land from indigenous peoples. we use and benefit from oil everyday and i dont see people giving up cars to ride bikes, when i do i will be willing to judge the oil companies.

I like Barbara, enjoy her books and think she was an awesome first lady, but everyone has their right to like whomever they want.

 

I don't know much about 'grandma', and truthfully, I don't care to know anymore about anyone directly related to 'duh-bya', but I still think his wife would be a cool president. I like her style and her personality. Hmmmm, I guess opposites really do attract. :lol:
