https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/10/16/16480438/obamacare-trump-csrs Interesting article that has a lot of truth to it IMO. Given that we have YET to see a republican health care bill that can even get everyone on board in their own party, let alone have a chance to be bi-partisan, I believe attacking and doing all they can to dismantle, obstruct and destroy the ACA will come back to bite them in the butt big time in the 2018 elections. If they had something better to offer or at least some IDEAS that they could share with the dems that could possibly lead to some kind of deal down the line there would be a glimmer of hope but cutting the subsidies right now is just cruel and dangerous to those who need them the most, and will drive up costs in the short term for all of us. "Like the Republicans who came before him, Trump is trying to gain leverage by sabotaging the governance of the country; unlike the Republicans who came before him, Trump is responsible for the governance of the country, and so he is sabotaging himself. This would all be quite comic if not for the millions of people who badly need decent health insurance and are going to suffer as Trump teaches himself this lesson."
It's just so disgusting what Trump is doing by deconstructing every facet of the federal government and I doubt his voters will ever hold him accountable. Most Trump supporters still don't realize he hasn't signed a single piece of Republican legislation into law since entering the WH because Trump has somehow managed to splinter his own party.
I think the pols are afraid of going against him, and the most rabid of his base simply don't care/understand.
Coming from the UK with our state funded NHS (flawed though it may be) I've found Obamacare really interesting. I take my hat off to the man for even attempting to tackle such a major issue. I really hope it doesn't get Trumped to death or diluted into insignificance.
Every source has some degree of bias, that being said developing the ability to look at multiple sources and discern the truth from the facts is crucial. Vox does lean left, but they do a good job of presenting facts IMO.
Article aside, wonder if a better solution is insurance for high level care like a broken leg and cash for routine stuff. Honestly I lean left of center on healthcare.
Who knows. Maybe something like that could work, but not if the routine stuff is priced out of the average person's reach. Another thought is what would be deemed routine stuff. I think of my uncle who has glaucoma and the cost of his eye drops (w/o insurance) would cost nearly $200, and a friend who is in a really bad place. She's unemployede, has anxiety, and one of her drugs is costing her $700 for a 1-month supply.
Major problem with politics today. Nothing but opinionasq Those are the same just from the other side.
Exactly. It really depends on what is considered "routine stuff". There are plenty of people with chronic illnesses who need medication to live every day, which could easily be considered routine. Then there is also the conversation of the benefit to preventative health care and the impact it has long term.
Hell I can't really call a site that aren't hard spin these days. Huffpo wapo vox vice and etc or no different than Breitbart the daily caller and the daily wore. The most fair I have seen it seems is the hill Town Hall
I agree. Seems with every way tried you never get the three things you need: affordability quality and accessibility. Seems like no matter what is tried one of those is missing.
If you have not gone to Politifact.com, IMO they are the closest thing (but not perfect) to a non-biased fact checking source. Having gone through the extensive Pulitzer Prize screening process and having won, at the very least you know their work had to pass a very high degree of scrutiny.
Forgot about that one......agreed. I think the need to make money over shadows their journalistic integrity. If you bash Trump, their is as much money to be made (more imo) as there was from bashing Obama on every single turn. When Obama did anything, you would swear the sky was literally falling. Same thing is being done to Trump.
