Considering how many porn stars there are out there, that handful that have appeared in semi mainstream movies does not really say much.

I have a lot of respect for them, they took a much needed stand. Even though I hate porn with condoms they should be used for their safety, people will still watch.

I remember the condomless days of porn. I remember the companies being reluctant about condoms in their films. And the companies acceded to the demands of the male fans. The death of John "The Wad" Holmes was not enough to drive this home. Performer Brooke Ashley, a performer who did a lot of gang bangs without a condom, ended up being HIV positive. That sort of got the ball rolling, but it was not enough. Darren James, John Stagliano(Buttman), Naomi Russell, Mr. Marcus and many others gave performers a moment of pause. The porn industry in North America is a highly profitable(a multi-billion dollar industry) and low rent industry that is now suffering thanks to the free internet porn sites. Some studios like Wicked, Vivid and others, to name a few have the money to make big budget films that can be right on par with straight Hollywood productions, often forgets about the issue of safety for the performers. The independent companies like Sean Michael's Productions, Mercenary Pictures, Seymour Butts, do act with some care for the performers in their films. I hope that the message is clear.

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but porn is a contact sport. Rub some dirt on it and get back on the field.;)

I'm sorry, but if I choose to be a firefighter for a living, I expect that I may get burned. If I choose to be a police officer for a living, I expect that I may get shot. If I choose to fuck for a living, I expect that my dick might fall off.

If the producer will not allow you to use a condom, don't do the video.

If you cannot accept the risks of your profession, maybe choose another?

It is insensitive. Like any contact sport, an athlete needs safeguards and a safe environment. Do you have experience in this "contact sport"? Were you ever paid? And if you continued after rubbing some dirt in it, what did you catch?

Joking......But to get serious for a second, Just like football players except that they are more likely to get concussions, porn people should except that STDs are a fact of the profession they CHOSE.

Is it a requirement for all black male porn "actors" to have bald/shaved heads?

No. They shouldn't expect contracting STDs or injuries as part of the territory. The performers have a choice to say NO to anything they are not comfortable with. Unfortunately, it is about the money and some companies do not give a tinker's damn about the performer, but do care about their profits since they are putting the money into the production. What Jessie Rogers and the other young woman who has contracted HPV and herpes are saying to the companies is let the environment be safe. Let us use condoms as well as a modicum of common sense for all who enter into this business.

Police officers get vests and firefighters get flame resistant clothing so by your logic condoms should be used then right?

I totally agree, porn performers have the right to be safe. However, there is a reason that the producers of porn are reluctant to use condoms. A lot of porn consumers really dislike the site of condoms on performers. And that in turn will shrink profits. The industry is already reeling from the glut of free porn on the internet, so they cant really afford to suffer anymore financial blows.

The performers are going to have to way their health over possibly costing themselves employment.

That's horseshit that's like saying factory workers should just deal with bad conditions even at the cost of their health because its getting more expensive to manufacture here. These are human beings. Damn

Having sex on camera isn't exactly the same as working in a slaughter house.

Nobody is denying the performers the right to work with condoms, they just have to come to grips with the facts of the business. And those facts are that the consumer, (who are ultimately the ones paying the performers) Don't like condoms.

So like I said the performers can work with condoms but they risk losing money.

Why isn't it the same as working in a slaughter house? Risk is risk.
I think it stems from this idea that if you're doing porn you're not really worth much and its wrong. And trust me on this people will still pay for porn. People used to jerk off to scrambled fuzzy images off their illegal cable boxes they'll still pay to watch a pretty girl get fucked. I don't like watching porn with condoms but if its all there is trust me I'll still at the computer with my lotion lol

Hey, it's not my personal stance. I'm just laying out what the porn producers have stated. As for people getting used to condoms in porn. Some people might just adapt, but most people are pretty set on what gets their rocks off. So i'm betting what we will see is a rapidly growing "extreme" genre were the more risky performers still work condom free.

Thump is correct about the industry's view on condoms.

I'm surprised that with today's use in heavily using CGI in mainstream movies, that the porn industry has not adopted that practice with their films.

They can easily delete condoms using computers. They can even simulate penetration using CGI.

The industry is beholden to the male porn fans with their dominant fantasies. As a fan with discerning tastes, and as someone who is specific about what I want to watch, if I enjoy a performer, I'd want to see that performer again. I'd like to see that performer healthy. The performer is not just working for that company, the performer is working for all of their fans. A condom is not going to hurt anything, unless they are shooting a period piece where condoms were not invented. But, I'd like to see that performer again. But, with the internet and free internet porn sites, the industry is losing money by the bushel. Performers have jumped on the internet and are doing their own thing. Ordinary folks are making money every month by posting webcams of their sexual activities. They may not use condoms, but they are in an environment that is familiar to them. And if they are having sex, it is with someone they know and trust.

Not my logic at all, but I'll entertain that for a second; Police still die to gunshots and firefighters still die in the line of duty, porn stars get tested and still get STD's.

My logic is that everybody knows the dangers of their chosen profession. It is up to the companies producing the porn to determine if they want condoms used in their videos. If they determine that it will hurt their bottom line they have every right to deny them to their "actors". If the "actors" have a problem with it, do not take the job. OR, find a different profession.

At the end of the day, they are choosing this profession and they are accepting the jobs that deny them condoms. Orrrrr did I miss the part where someone put a gun to their heads?

EDIT: .... actually, I'm about to go jerk off to some free condomless porn right now.
