I finally finished a bachelor's degree (Communications) last December; in the months leading up to graduation I started researching and filling out applications for various jobs, new-graduate fellowships and more that were available.. at this point I've easily submitted 150+ job applications to various companies large and small, from 'dream' jobs (journalism, public relations, broadcasting) to those that were much less so (casinos). I've edited and re-edited my resume. The infuriating thing is I have yet to even make it to the interview level for anything that I have applied for. If I get a response back at all, it is always the generic "thank you for submitting, but..." response.

It's just incredibly frustrating. I want to move to another city entirely, in part to boost my career as I had already hit a ceiling without a degree; the work I do now has a great mission, but the pay is not great and it's "paraprofessional" status so there's a wall I can't get through with regards to pay and promotion; I also want to start fresh somewhere else so I can jump-start my social life.. I was cut down to part-time status for about 10 weeks this summer, which put me in a hole financially.. I'm back up to full time now but I'm already having to play catchup with different bills while trying to save money.. but the grind continues..

Sorry to hear about your struggles getting interviews. Have you had someone review your resume? Often times people are so used to looking at their own stuff, they glance over things that may be red flags to potential employers. Your resume is the first (and sometimes only) shot to impress the hiring team...it needs to be top notch. If you haven't had someone take a look at it, it might be worth a shot. Analyze the actual structure of it, how you phrase things, sentence structure, spelling, etc. Those sound like simple things, but I can tell you as someone who reviews resumes daily...you'd be surprised at some of the crap I see! Also, put together a nice (detailed, but brief) cover letter. Remember, there's probably minimally 20-40 people applying for the same job you are...your resume/cover letter needs to stand out.

Another thing (and it sounds like you may have already done this), apply for jobs within the field that interests you, even if the job is below your level. I get resumes from people looking to work the front desk, when in reality they're qualified for an admin job...and sometimes I happen to have one open that just hasn't been posted yet. Apply for numerous positions within the same organization...reason being is that large companies often have hiring teams per department and you want your resume widely dispersed!

Good luck in your efforts. Keep being persistent...something will come your way.

I can think a few like H. Wayne Hyzenga who started Blockbuster Video simply by purchasing a garbage truck and built it from profits from collecting garbage. Amos of Famous Amos Cookies, Rocky Aoki, who founded Benihana.
Author J.K. Rowling was a single mother in Glasgow, Scotland when she began writing the Harry Potter books. Ron Rice who created Hawaiian Tropic suntan oils.

I'm really into cryptocurrency as I've mentioned before on here but ultimately I would love to be in a position to do my podcast, write, and do philanthropy work. I'd find the most fulfillment I can career wise doing that stuff. I would also like to have a family if the financial stars are aligned.

I remember you mentioned something about writing when I mentioned Tolkien earlier in this thread. What sort of writing?

I really enjoy writing sci fi and fantasy. I get to see the world as it should be and not how it is.
Lately my partner and I have been talking about a biography maybe along the lines of Madam CJ Walker or Marcus Garvy. There's just so much I want to do, we are launching a podcast soon about politics and health mainly geared towards professionals in general and young black professionals specifically. We've been interviewing some interesting people that I think someone like you in particular would love. I've done the rough drafts to three books already and praying that time and inspiration will allow me to finish at least one of them this year (I got off of fb to make this shit happen lol)
