Change the rules. After trying shenanigans like voter purging, suppression and new ID rules and still losing the elections. The Republicans have come with a new strategy, CHANGE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE RULES. I think it will pass in Virginia and might pass in the other states as well. http://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...0096e6-6654-11e2-85f5-a8a9228e55e7_story.html
This isn't a new strategy. They have have requested that the electorate vote be abolished for many years now. Maybe you were not aware of it.
No, the GOP is trying to allocate electoral votes in certain states based on how many Congressional districts a presidential candidate wins in a general election, not get rid of the electoral college altogether. According to the GOP's new strategy, although Obama won the state of Virginia by over 100,000 votes, Romney would have won the majority split electoral votes. If the Republicans keep pushing these dirty tricks, all they're going to do is accelerate the elimination of the electoral college completely. I always think I'm shocked by the extremes the GOP will go to in order to win elections, but then they starting doing the backstroke in the sewer. This is just slimy. You wanna see riots in the streets??? Let the candidate who wins the majority votes in a state in a presidential election LOSE the final electoral vote count in that state. We already have in Congress a 'majority' GOP in the House who won with less total votes nationally than the minority Democrats because of gerrymandered carved up congressional districts. You try the same strategy for presidential elections and you'll put our system of government on the brink. Someone did a retro analysis of how the 2012 presidential election would have turned out under these proposed GOP rule changes, and Romney would have won the general election with just over 270+ electoral votes, even though Obama won 52-53% of the popular vote.
Yes, looks like the rest of the States have been shamed to submission, but Michigan is going on full throttle.
