90% OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS ARE PURE BLACK

    I know I'm not pure, my great great grandfather was Irish. My great grandmother was born in Trinidad in 1888, so she was "colored" as they said back then. I am still doing genealogical research on him to find out how long he was in the West Indies. It can be done, and it's good that I know personally two very learned genealogists.

    My grandfather was dark, and so wasn't his sister, but his other sister was very light. My mom is lighter than her father, and I'm about the same complexion. You know I'm black, but I'm not dark.

    Genetics are funny. I have a cousin who has freckles and is so light she could "pass." None of the family is THAT light. So its a gene somewhere that showed up.

    Sorry to hijack the thread. It's just a subject that's interesting to me.
