Not to beat a dead horse or anything but is it really supporting our love if she can't do it in front of everyone? Wouldn't what she did be kinda equivalent to a woman telling you she loved you, but she's not comfortable introducing you to her parents for fear of losing her inheritance from daddy's will?

Maybe I'm just pissy, who knows, but that's what her attitude feels like to me. Either support it fully or gtfo. Just my opinion.

I cannot say that Ellen Pompeo is a contradiction, but when it comes to a career(i.e. money, work on future films and shows),it all becomes a struggle to survive. Like the old Hollywood saying goes; "You're only as good as your last picture."

Actor Eriq LaSalle rejected a onscreen interracial romance with actress Alex Kingston on ER. LaSalle didn't want to reject his black female fans of the show and he said that he wanted to be in shows that show more black love. Eriq LaSalle was trying to survive, too.

No one knows the future of a show; that is determined by the viewers. And if a supporting actor/actress becomes a lead, expectations will be high because all the world is a stage and you have to play your part well.

Or, as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson famously said, "Know your role."

I'm actually glad she didn't play the IR role on Greys Anatomy...she was a great match for Dempsey...her mother had an IR with the chief of staff...Meredith just found out this last season that she has a biracial sister ... Meredith also adopt a black baby a few seasons ago...she embraces black enough on the show and in real life

Totally not where I was going. But be careful of hypocrasy for all agreeing with this. Because once you make a case for one racial event, others will follow believing a good way to avoid IR is because of a lot reasons I see of those in defense of ellen's decision. And the progress will go back down.

 

Once again as I said she criticized the emmys for lack of diversity. They could easily go with the defense of "People aren't ready to see diversity on screen" or "We have a diverse crew working on the show that's enough" or "Career choices for money".

It works both ways. That's why the best thing to do is to not play the race game at all. She played it and her critic of the emmy's is now hypocritical, because she played the race game and gave a reason for it, and so did they. Who is right and who is wrong is all just a matter of opinion.
