In the film Casablanca, actor Dooley Wilson, who portrayed Sam the pianist, was playing a dead piano. He faked the playing. But he did sing the song "As Time Goes By."

Max Steiner(Steiner was one of four of America's top contemporary composers in film), who composed the score for the film, didn't like As Time Goes By but producer Hal B. Wallace insisted that the song be the main song in the film.

Director Michael Curtiz spoke with a thick Spanish accent. And he was a perfectionist. He wanted to do a long tracking shot of the empty interior of Rick's Cafe Americaine. But a boom Mic operator accidentally dropped the Mic to the floor of the set. Curtiz was livid and he laid into the boom Mic operator. The boom Mic operator responded saying, "TO HELL WITH YOU! TO HELL WITH YOU! TO HELL WITH YOU,SIR!"

The line "Round up the usual suspects" came about when the writers were at a traffic stop trying to think of something for Captain Louis Renault to say after the death of Major Heinrich Strasser.

Humphrey Bogart made home movies while on the set when he wasn't working.

The ending dialogue between Rick and Renault was improvised.

A large paper airplane and a few dwarfs set up the illusion of normal sized men working on the airplane in the distance.

Cube had no intention of dissing NWA but they dissed him first so he shot back.

RIP, Jerry. Although most people are probably glad he is dead. A lot of people think Jerry had a hand in Eazy's death.

    Anyway, here's Cube's diss.

In the film The Magnificent Seven, Steve McQueen was very competitive on the set. He liked the gun that Yul Brynner was given and he even complained that the horse he rode was shorter than Brynner's horse. He had to raise the saddle up to appear even with Brynner.

Singer Screaming Jay Hawkins was drunk when he recorded "I Put A Spell On You". Anytime he sang it live, he was drunk.

I would say 'inspired by' rather than stolen.

THe Matrix IMO is a very unique creative property that borrows elements from various SciFi genres.

However it's not like the Wachowski brothers, um, sisters(!!), ripped off their entire screenplay from a Black woman.

Sometimes people have seeds of ideas that just aren't fully formed or fleshed out enough, which allows others to poach the original concept.

Not saying it's right, but reading this woman's original concept then seeing the Matrix, IMO they're completely different properties.

Not only science fiction, but elements in anime and martial arts films.
