What's up in the A, Since?

Eli Apple, a football player for Ohio State, was asked if he is gay by an Atlanta Falcons coach during an NFL combine meeting.
Apple didn't name the coach who asked him about his sexuality

"The Falcons coach, one of the coaches, was like, 'So do you like men?'' Apple said.

'It was like the first thing he asked me. It was weird.

'I was just like, 'No.' He was like, 'If you're going to come to Atlanta, sometimes that's how it is around here. You're going to have to get used to it.''

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn called the question inappropriate and unprofessional and the NFL said it would be investigating the matter ...

'I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches.

'I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional this was.*

'I have reiterated this to the entire coaching staff and I want to apologize to Eli for this even coming up.*

'This is not what the Atlanta Falcons are about and it is not how we are going to conduct ourselves,' he said.*

Brian McCarthy, an NFL spokesman, said the NFL would be investigating the incident.

Nick Kasa, former Colorado tight end said he was also asked about his sexuality during the 2013 NFL combine.

Since Atlanta has a pretty high gay/lesbian population the coach was probably trying to ask him if he was homophobic or anything. At least I hope that's what was happening.

But good goddamn he picked the stupidest way to ask about it.

Hmmm....He could have instead, asked him if he was comfortable around gays, or how does he feel about gays...but to come out and ask are you gay?? Not even the military ask that anymore. Maybe the coach wanted to know personally

    LOL.

But seriously what's up with Atlanta???
I feel like I've been out of the loop but more and more I hear Black folk tell me that Atlanta has become like the Black gay mecca over the last 15-20 years.

    Is that true???

Pretty much. Atlanta has a very large black LBGT population. I'm not sure if it's the largest in the country but if it isn't, it's in the top two or three.

When I worked in the airline industry, Atlanta was known as the party City, AKA Hotlanta.
Not sure when or why it switched to become a predominantly gay city.
