I think Biden's presidency will be fraught with mistakes, (many he is already making) like listening to the outdated thinking coming from the wings of the Democratic party that care more about optics than real solutions to problems.

Biden's focusing on the glut of diversity hire cabinet picks, is a symptom of the thinking that tanked the Democrats for the previous two elections (identity politics as a driving factor), only the incompetency of Trump kept it from happening again this time.

I'm all for diversity of ethnicity and gender but Biden is forgetting about diversity of thought. Checking all of the identity politic boxes while snubbing progressives again will come back to bite his administration in the ass. The get-out-the-vote efforts of Bernie Sanders and the progressives are one of the key reasons Biden won this election, so if he thinks ignoring them is harmless he is shortsighted.

When Biden runs for his 2nd term and/or when Kamala Harris runs in 2024 or 2028 the progressives are likely to stay home again (as they did with Hillary) and Biden or Harris will fall flat on her faces. Frankly, the best hope Biden/Harris have to get a 2nd term is if Trump runs again, because only The orange one could get enough Democrats and never-Trumpers to the polls in large numbers to keep him out. If it is another less contentious Republican, I think Biden and Harris will lose, because nobody loves them enough to fight for them.

I'd hope that Biden would give serious consideration to some of the progressive ideas and such. In other words... don't ignore those who helped push this ticket to victory. I'm not at all suggesting that he goes far left and never turn back, but it's clear that the status quo is not sustainable for this party.

They'll pay for it in the midterms

Progressives don't vote. They attack Democrats more than Republicans. They primary incumbent Dems in safe Blue seats. Their stated goal is the takeover of the Dem party from within. AOC cost us 12 seats pushing her "defund the police" talk and giving sound bites to the GOP, and Bernie cost us a SCOTUS majority. They flipped zero seats. They offer nothing but slogans. I too can screech "M4A" or "Green New Deal" over and over like an autistic child. Biden's platform is already progressive. African-Americans are the base and they alone put Biden in office. Even the precious white woman voted 55% for Trump in 2020, up from 53% in 2016.

We owe far-leftists nothing. They should try pulling the GOP more to the left instead, and leave us alone.

Like every new Democratic presidency, cleaning up the wreckage of the Republican presidency that came before. Any actual new policies will only be implemented in the Dem president's second term, just in time to be erased by the new incoming Republican president four years after that.

Trump actually got more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016,(10 million more.) He also got more Black votes than he did in 2016. Without people like Bernie and other progressive leaders making sure their people tuned out for Biden, instead of staying home (like they did for Hillary in 2016) Trump would have won in a landslide, so yeah they do vote.

Progressive voters tend to be young 18-30 and the Tufts University did a study that shows that the youth turnout in 2020 was up to 10% higher in 2020 than it was in 2016, and of those who voted 64% voted for Biden.

    Two things.

    1. In most western nations, Joe Biden would be considered a center-right politician like Angela Merkel. The definition of right-leaning in America has taken a decidedly populist and ethnonationalist direction that anything left of the Trump-led GOP can be, bizarrely, tagged as "socialist." Biden has almost never advocated for policies that most progressives would recognize as a victory. If you think that his win to the average Biden supporter was about more than getting rid of his predecessor, then you haven't been paying attention.

    2. Most political predictions are absolutely worthless; even people who have studied politics at the highest level usually only get it right about half the time. With that in mind, Biden may surprise us all.

Yet you can't see how young people progressives in particular gave Biden the win

I'm expecting a center-right set of policies, little engagement on progressive policy priorities and a largely status quo administration and term in office. I'm expecting the same of Kamala Harris, should she end up in the Oval Office. Essentially a Barack 3.0 or Hillary 1.0. The supporting cast is largely drawn from that same DNC post-Billary crowd, so will probably be more pandering than substantive change.

Amen and I like I said they'll pay for it heavy in the midterms. All the Republicans have to obstruct and show government doesn't work and destroy voter confidence and engagement in the process while the Dems blame low turnout on young people and minorities. Trump 2.0 is gonna have everyone praying for the good old days because the next one will be competent and will actually do the shit everyone is afraid of.
That's what patting yourself on the back for getting 600 dollar checks will get you.
