Another passing earlier this week. Incredible Life just gone, over YOLO bullshit.

Jeff Gladney, Arizona Cardinals cornerback and former 1st round draft pick, died early Monday morning following a car accident in Dallas.

He was only 25 years old.

    upload_2022-6-2_2-51-33.png

Gladney, born in Texas in 1996, was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 31st overall pick in 2020 ... after starring at TCU.

The standout corner played in all 16 games for the Vikes in 2020 ... racking up 81 tackles (63 solo).

However, Jeff was cut by Minnesota in the summer of 2021 after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend. The case ultimately went to trial, and Gladney was found not guilty. But, because the trial took time, Jeff was forced to sit out the entire 2021 season.

After the not guilty verdict, he was free and clear to resume his very promising football career.
The Cardinals then signed Jeff to a new contract in March 2022.

Jeff's former TCU teammate, Eagles WR Jalen Reagor, is grieving the loss of his close friend.

"Lost my Brother, my best friend, my right hand man… ain't too much more I can take man damn! R.I.P Jeff Gladney, brother watch over me please."

New Cardinals teammate J.J. Watt spoke on the tragedy, writing,

"Horrifying news to hear this morning. Just tragic. Rest In Peace Jeff."

The Vikings also issued a statement.

"We are saddened by the tragic death of former Viking Jeff Gladney. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as the Arizona Cardinals organization and Jeff's current and former teammates and coaches who are mourning his life lost much too soon."

    Rest in peace.

R.I.P to The Goose. 55 is damn young still.

    By Guardian sport, last hr

Tony Siragusa, defensive tackle for the Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens, holds the Vince Lombardi trophy as he rides with his wife, Kathy, in a parade in his hometown of Kenilworth, New Jersey in March 2001.
Tony Siragusa, the NFL defensive tackle turned TV personality, has died at the age of 55.

The news was confirmed by Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, where Siragusa spent seven of his 12 seasons in the league. Irsay said he was “heartbroken as is all of Colts Nation.”

Siragusa, nicknamed “The Goose”, weighed 330lbs during his playing career, and became a popular figure in Indianapolis due to his larger than life personality. He joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 1990 before joining the Baltimore Ravens in 1997, with whom he won the Super Bowl in the 2000 season.

"The Goose squeezed 200 fun loving years into 55!! He was one of the most physically strongest players I have ever seen in 50 years In Greece, they would ask 1 question at the end of one’s life; Did He Have Passion? In Tony’s case..Yes He Did!!"??
    — Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) June 22, 2022

Siragusa was a regular fixture on television after his retirement from football. He was a Fox Sports sideline reporter until 2015, and appeared in The Sopranos as Frankie Cortese, Tony Soprano’s bodyguard and driver. He also hosted Man Caves, a renovation show on the DIY Network.

He was married to Kathy and was the father of three children. Siragusa had 404 tackles, 22 sacks and five forced fumbles during his career.

Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson dies at age 26

    Jun 22, 2022
    [IMG]

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson has died at the age of 26, the team announced Wednesday.

"Jaylon was a good-hearted, gentle person who loved his family and his team," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "He was a joy to talk with and be around every day. You always wanted to see and talk to 'Ferg.' Our prayers and our help go to his family. Our hearts are with his Spirit. R.I.P., Jaylon."

At approximately 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, Baltimore Police said officers responded to a home in the northern district of the city, where they found Ferguson unresponsive and being treated by medics.

Ferguson never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on the scene by medics, according to police.

Baltimore Police said there were no signs of trauma found and no foul play was suspected at this time.

Ferguson's body was transported to the medical examiner's office, where a cause of death will be determined. Investigators are not ruling out the possibility of an overdose, a police spokesperson said.

Ferguson, a third-round pick by the Ravens in 2019, had participated in all of the team's offseason practices this year. It appeared that he had worked hard to be in the best shape of his career, dropping a significant amount of weight.

"'J Ferg' had the most genuine energy I've ever been around," Ravens safety Tony Jefferson said.
"Before I left after minicamp in the locker room, he expressed how he was ready to have a big year, and I believed it was going to be his best season as a Raven. He will be watching over us, I know it, and he will bring the team closer just from his mark he left. He will definitely be missed."

Known as "Sack Daddy" coming out of Louisiana Tech, Ferguson holds the FBS record for career sacks with 45. In three NFL seasons, he totaled 67 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

The Louisiana Tech football team tweeted:
"The LA Tech Family mourns this morning's tragic news of the sudden death of former Bulldog great, Jaylon Ferguson," . "We will remember his God-given talents on the field and his infectious personality off of it. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."

Ferguson spent most of his time during the 2019 draft, in which he was the 85th player selected, helping his hometown of Ruston, Louisiana, recover from a deadly tornado. He helped search for people while removing uprooted trees from the street. He also helped bring water and pizza to people in need.

    Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard said.

"Jaylon is someone I will cherish for the rest of my life," "His smile and uplifting attitude are two things I will never forget. You'd find a smile on his face no matter how the day was going. His personality was infectious throughout the locker room, and there wasn't a person in the organization who didn't have respect for him."

    Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen tweeted.
"The last person I talked to leaving the facility.. Spent almost everyday in the sauna together tryna see who gone last longer. Said it was our turn this year man. Ima miss you bro."

Ferguson's agent, Safarrah Lawson, said in a statement.
"He was a wonderful young man full of love and life," "He will be remembered not just as a football player, but as a great father, son, brother and friend. The family asks for your continued prayers."

Ferguson had three children, two daughters and a son, who are all under the age of 5.

    R.I.P. :(

COLLEGE BASKETBALL STAR DARIUS LEE, DEAD AT 21.
Shot & Killed In New York.

Houston Baptist men's basketball star Darius Lee was tragically shot and killed while at a gathering in New York on Monday, the university confirmed.
He was just 21 years old.

According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred at what appeared to be a barbeque in Harlem at around 12:40 AM.

Cops say when they arrived on the scene following reports of gunfire, they found nine people -- seven males and two females -- suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police say a firearm was recovered at the site of the shooting, but no further details regarding the incident were revealed. Cops say they've yet to make any arrests and an investigation is ongoing.

Lee, who was ID'ed by Houston Baptist as one of the seven injured males, was transported to a nearby hospital after being struck in the chest by a bullet. He was sadly pronounced dead there, cops say.

Lee was Houston Baptist's best player last season ... averaging 18.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. The rising senior was expected to graduate in December, the school said.

Houston Baptist officials mourned Lee's death on Monday, with men's basketball head coach Ron Cottrell calling the 6-foot-6, 230-pound wing "a remarkable young man."

"We are in shock and cannot wrap our heads around this news," Cottrell said. "My heart breaks for his mom, his sister and his entire family, and for our basketball team. The only thing we find comfort in right now is knowing where Darius is. He is in the arms of Jesus… we know that as fact. And we will see him again some day."
"As great of a basketball player as he was, he was an even better person.
I can't even think of basketball right now. I can only think of what a light Darius was during his short time on earth. He was a joy to coach and we loved him so much."

WHITEWATER (WKOW) -- The coach of standout UW-Whitewater basketball player Derek Gray told 27 News the player's sudden death took place at a basketball camp on campus and was cardiac-related.

"It was a cardiac event," UW-Whitewater Men's Basketball Coach Pat Miller told 27 News. "He had a blockage."

Miller said more than 100 children ages 10 through 17 were attending the camp Sunday and being treated to pizza courtside as Gray, other players, counselors and coaches played on the court.

"He was not labored, there was nothing we saw," Miller said of the 20-year-old Gray.

Miller told 27 News when Gray collapsed, he thought the player experienced a seizure.

Miller said emergency responders arrived quickly and campers were escorted out of the facility without becoming aware of the player's worsening condition.

"It was just a very surreal situation where you're thinking, 'Okay, he's going to be all right,' and then you're very scared and the longer it went on, it became apparent that this was extraordinarily serious."

"I've been around for a long time, I've seen a lot of different things, it was one of the most traumatic things I've ever been a part of."

Miller said Gray's basketball career was ascending after a breakout freshman year. He said Division 1 schools had interested in Gray.

Miller also said Gray was a leader and an intelligent, inquisitive student-athlete. "He was a guy that everyone liked, looked up to. He's a guy I truly loved."

Demaryius Thomas died from seizure disorder complications, autopsy report says
    Screenshot_20220808-040350_YouTube.jpg

The popular former Broncos star receiver was discovered dead in the shower of his Georgia home last December. He was 33.

Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in Atlanta, Ga., performed an autopsy on Thomas the next day. The medical examiner released a statement at the time saying it had conducted laboratory studies and microscopic examination of tissue slides on Thomas, who was 16 days shy of his 34th birthday when he died.
It is unknown whether Thomas’s seizure disorder was a result of natural causes or head impacts incurred during his NFL career. It was recently revealed that he had Stage Two CTE.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner stated said it was the opinion of a Boston University doctor (Chris Nowinski) that regarding Demaryius Thomas "there is not a direct relationship between (CTE) and the development of the seizure disorder.''

The autopsy report said Thomas was found dead in his shower with the water running but his face, mouth and nose were not submerged. The report added he was 6-foot-4, 231 pounds "has a muscular build, well developed and well nourished." His blood tested positive for nicotine and marijuana, according to the report, with neither mentioned as a contributing factor to his death.

His death shocked and saddened the NFL and Broncos communities. The Broncos paid tribute to Thomas prior to and during their next home game on Dec. 12 against the Detroit Lions, most notably with a memorial outside the south end of the stadium where Peyton Manning and his kids where among the thousands who paid their respects. The memorial featured a ring of flowers with a blue No. 88 centerpiece (Thomas wore No. 88 with the Broncos). On the field near the south end zone there was also an "88" logo where the defensive players kneeled after every turnover in their 38-10 win against the Lions...

He had JUST RETIRED! Outstanding career. Thomas broke all kinds of records, including most catches in a SB (13), but what stands out is his horrible childhood...and Barack Obama pardoning his family! Wow.. its worth reading the details... link below..

    RIP to them.

what is the point of having two threads for dead celebrities ? Yours and the one started by RA? IMO they should be made into one. something for the mods to consider.

Athletes are not celebrities. They are sports players. Many are not known unless you follow sports, so why clog up the celebrity thread?
Going by your logic, why have a sports player relationship thread, then?

Quinones was an undefeated boxer (10-0) until his matchup with Jose Munoz on September 24 at Coliseo Elias Chegwin ... when he was knocked out with less than a minute left in the fight.

Video of the fight shows Quinones fall down after getting punched ... and he's unable to get back on his feet. He was then taken out of the ring on a stretcher by medical personnel.

It was reported that Quinones suffered a blood clot in his brain as a result of head trauma from the fight ... and was in a coma after surgery. He was declared brain dead on Thursday, but remained on a respirator until his passing.

Munoz -- who is also his sparring partner -- is devastated by his death ... saying he never thought "a dream could turn into a real nightmare".

Quinones was inspired by Julio Cesar Chavez and left his hometown of Barrancabermeja to become a professional boxer. He made his debut in 2018...
