It can kind of work as a media tactic in a way to keep the view of him as even more evil. Show the world and the media and the jury not only the pain these people went through losing their family members, but show them that you are good people. Some probably believe there are other ways you can do that though.
Preach brother preach. EXACTLY If the dirt bag who murdered their family was black no one would think forgiveness much less say it.
It's so strange that some people can have these complex internal lives that no one has a clue about, and sometimes those internal lives can drive them to act out in the real world. Dylann Roof's friends knew he was racist and hated Black people, but not to what extent. When he went into that church, he was so calm and almost meek. Then once the prayer group closed their eyes for the closing prayer, Roof took out his .45 nine mm and started shooting. When he was interviewed by cops, he didn't even know he had killed 9 people. Even after his trial and sentencing, Roof said he had to do what he did and would do it again.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean justice doesn’t take its course. Of course whoever did wrong must be brought to justice. It also doesn’t mean you can’t take action. It’s a mindset.
This. Victims' families shouldn't be demonized for whatever feelings they have towards the murderers of their loved ones unless they are going out of their way to advocate for these killers to not be punished for their crimes. I'm just sick and tired of the hypocrisy of how when black folks are murdered, especially by white men, we are never allowed the luxuries of being angry and demanding our deaths be regarded with the same level of outrage and sense of urgency that justice be served that occurs when white lives are being taken.
