I WOULD JUST LIKE TO POINT OUT, FOR THE RECORD, THAT NOT ALL WOMEN FROM ALASKA ARE LIKE HER!!!!! Now I gotta take off the "Alaska Chicks Kick Ass" of my car before one more person asks me about Sarah Palin...
Please show me where me or anyone else said all Alaskan women were like her. Looks like somebody is projecting.
Actually it had and won't have an impact. With the Repub base, she saved face, still didn't answers the questions directly, shouted out talking points and the core of the base is not smart enough to figure out that or think its the "liberal" media trying to "gotcha" her. Close? No Viscious? More than likely - BLUE STATE here, we don't see that nonsense anyway. Repubs will try and suppress the vote, they always do. High turnout is BAD for Repugs. There are not enough conservatives or McCain supporters to overcome a large turnout. Then you also forget that Gore WON his Election, Supreme Court made Bush President. Shaddy doings went down in Ohio with Kerry. Tricks can be overcome by early voting. Already started in EARNEST in Ohio, Minn and several other states. My good man, look at all the facts, take in all the information. Rasta and Myself were on the front of this train. I'm not totally Pro Obama, not progressive enough, wants to be centric which will make him more appealing to more voters, I say BS because if you were Progressive you would excite the base like Palin has for the conservatives. Honestly I don't really care, the US is a MESS, I need to leave and let you all deal with it....
Oh no, i'm not projecting at all, dearie, and I never said anything about anyone saying all Alaskan women are like her. I've just gotten a lot of the "Oh, so you're from Alaska too, you must like Palin!" conversation starters lately, and when you come from a state where not a lot of people in the lower 48 know anything about it, you just don't want your state to be seen in any bad light. It's bad enough that I still have to answer the "Do you have electricity? Did you live in an igloo? Can you drive a sled dog team?" questions. Now it's "Can you really see Russia from your house?" It was supposed to be a funny.
No matter what happens now, Alaska will always be associated with Govenor Palin. She's branded the state.
Okay, now I have to ask....Do you have a bear skin or a moose head on your wall? Just kidding......:smt042
I have to agree with pretty much everything karma said here. Pretty much my exact thoughts. I really hope that Obama is elected but I'm not as confident as I used to be. I've been discussing the election lately and the amount of people who I've talked to who've said they are voting for McCain is ridiculous. I think only one person I've spoken to has supported Obama. And almost every one of them has fallen for that "folksy backwoods shit" that karma pointed out. They keep saying that they can relate to Palin and they think she'll look out for the little people. One person even went so far as to say that Palin was the best person for president, not VP but president! I thought my head was about to explode when I heard that, I just had to walk away.
:smt103 That is downright SCARY!! It just goes to show how people would rather remain uninformed instead of doing a bit of research. Information is at our fingertips now, yet people won't seek it out for the important stuff, and I think that electing our next President should rank as #1 in that aspect.... On a fun, side note: match yourself up with the best candidate. Here's a link: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/MatchoMatic/fullpage?id=5542139
:smt013 Rub it in, why don't ya?? Damn those CUBBIES!!! :smt021 To keep on thread, I'll never understand why people would choose to stay ignorant on these issues.
People often would rather remain ignorant when something goes against their core beliefs. America's not known for its open-mindedness.
I think he will win. Americans are angry with the Republican Party and George W. Bush. If he wins, it will not be because he is black but because the majority of voters can identify with him and not hate him because he is black.
People have already forgotten what happened in Florida they will screw this election (GOP party) once again. Electronic Voting means someone can hack into the system and change to outcome.
I wish that wasn't the case. You'd think with all of the advances we've made, that peoples' core beliefs would change. It's a shame that that isn't the case. I got into an argument with my mom about off-shore drilling yesterday. I was arguing that I liked Obama's stance better about finding alternative fuels and she said we should be off-shore drilling. It didn't matter what I said to her, she wasn't changing her mind.
