Someguy was saying this is racist. I see why it is. NY post is right-wing republican paper. I wonder what the black republicans think of this ....?

Most likely they would want to keep it under the rug. IDIOTS.

Do you regularly respond to racism by generalizing other population groups?

Most typical Aussies don't act like Murdoch, nor are that ignorant. The cartoon is classless and crass. I can see though why some people feel it's racist.

Once again our resident buck-dancers conservative Blacks on this forum are silent on this issue.

The cartoon was a reference to this story.

Here is another opinion on the cartoon.

Either way, I agree, it wasn't very funny.

While I understand the artist is claiming no racist intent, this incident clearly underscores the clear lack of understanding that still exists between people of different color. The fact is that there is a LONG, UGLY history (and in some segments, present day) in this country of comparing, equating, ect. Black people with apes, monkeys, ect. Couple that with the fact that Obama and his administration have been integral in creating and selling the stimulus package, it was an incredibly STUPID choice to pair the two news stories under the banner of cartoon satire, especially in a newspaper that is notorious for being hyper conservative.

"Cosell's most infamous remark, when, during a Monday Night Football broadcast on Sept. 5, 1983, Dallas 31 vs Washington 30, Howard exclaimed, "Look at that little monkey run", referring about African American Washington Redskins receiver Alvin Garrett. The comment, which Cosell also used to describe his playful grandson, led to immediate outcries of racism, and despite a Cosell denial and a supportive statement by Jesse Jackson, Ali, and even Alvin Garrett himself, the fallout contributed to Cosell's decision to leave Monday Night Football two months later. (I'm sorry), you'll soon find why I stay away from politics. Why is this cartoon racist? Is it because there's a monkey? So is the Curious George cartoon racist because there's a little monkey and a white guy as his "master"/owner? I think ya'll are reading way too much into this cartoon. Maybe they are just using the monkey to convey that the people writing the stimulus bills are stupid humans, because monkeys are stupid, yet still can accomplish some of the same tasks humans do because they're "most like us". Something like that. Sorry I said anything. I just don't really understand as much as I would like to, I guess.

Gotta agree with Britt for once..

From what Ive gathered, the cartoonist is a "genius" who knows how to play with peoples heads.

All he really did was intertwined a dead chimp (ape) to the Stimulus Bill, and left the interpretation to the reader.

like i said, genius at work.

Is this racist propaganda??...maybe it is, but calling him a [FLAT OUT] racist would be mere assumption

Maybe he went astray by using an ape as an object of symbolism, especially now that Obama is president. However you cant prove with 100% certainty that the chimp [to him] represents obama

Also.....you should remember that G.W Bush was flat out called a monkey/and chimp, and nobody said a thing
