    Wow, so many tangents...anyhoo...

So we are to ignore the concept (and fundamental right) of freedom of speech because we have slander case law? They are not mutually exclusive.

This is a quote (actually from "Animal Farm") expressing the sentiment of the totalitarian regime of the creatures (literally swine) who lord over the others. This is not an expression of the sentiment of the intent or rule of our Constitutional Law. Are you equating your Constitutional rights as a U.S. citizen with the situation of someone under the rule of a modern day "Animal Farm" IE: Cuba or North Korea? Really?

I have no idea why you would think that of me. I am very familiar with structure and workings of our federal constitutional republic.

Just my impression, but you seem to have an undercurrent of contempt for the very system of law in which you state that you are a part. I am not so quick to jump on the bandwagon of opinion that "might makes right" is the rule of the land. We are strong because we protect the weak. We are good because we respect the rights of individuals.

Majority rule (pure democracy) has never been the structure of our country, nor should it be. We have checks and balances to prevent minority voices from being diminished or destroyed by majority tyranny. We have the Constitution, not as a guideline or ideal, but as a final authoritative protection of our individual rights and liberties.

I'm very sorry to see that your racist ass doesn't seem to think that white people have brains or much of an emotional IQ. I'm also sorry that you're so fucking stupid and self-absorbed that you can't see that every human being regardless of sex, race, age, class, etc experiences racism and discrimination and that every motherfucker on this planet is guilty of it. I'm also sorry that you're so fucking immature and underdeveloped that you don't even care and think "so what, white people started it" and don't notice that these double standards aren't helping anyone. Done.

The Constitution is far from the authoritative final protection, while it is not easy to change it is not impossible and there are many forces at play "daily" seeking to inflict their views on those who have the power to change it. Checks and balances apply more to the three levels of government, not so much the law and the legal process where Stare Decisis rules and is highly subjective.

Britty, I hope you read my responses, I answered your questions in a constructive manner and I hope you may learn something of the Black experience from them.

After reading her posts in this thread, not only do I seriously doubt there's any chance of that happening, but I also think that she's totally bereft of the capacity to engage in any type of nuanced discussion regarding race.

On topic. Ignoring the racial connotations of the cartoon, this is the type of crass "political commentary" that's typical of News Corp./Rupert Murdoch owned media outlets. In a way, I think the extreme outrage serves to legitimize The NY Post as something other than a hyper partisan right wing rag that does nothing but disseminate propaganda day in and day out.

A rattlesnake, if cornered will become so angry it will bite itself. That is exactly what the harboring of hate and resentment against others is - a biting of oneself. We think we are harming others in holding these spites and hates, but the deeper harm is to ourselves.
    -E. Stanley Jones
You don't fight racism with racism, the best way to fight racism is with solidarity.
    -Bobby Seale
While the legal, material, and even superficial requirements to eradicate racism are well known, its psychological and more deeply spiritual requirements have been persistently neglected-namely, the oneness of the human family. It is this principle of oneness that needs to be the driving force behind the struggle of uniting the races.

The new slavery for blacks is that of victimhood, and it's self-imposed. It's really sad - originally blacks had to be whipped onto the plantation. Now they voluntarily chain themselves there.

I don't give a damn what happened to your people so far in the past. It didn't happen to YOU and wasn't done by ME. Every fucking race on the planet has been enslaved at some time or another. And it was black people that sold their own race anyway. If I saw a white person saying to black people the kind of shit black people say to whites, I'd fucking slap him upside the head too. And remember, I'm not racist, I'm BlackJesus.

Fuck, I want a White Entertainment Television channel. WET sounds so much better than BET. OH WAIT..THAT WOULD BE RACIST!
    -BlackJesus
Yesterday a black lad cut me in line for french fries. I called him a racist for thinking he could step in front of me just because I was white. What a fucking lunatic! HOPE YOU LIKE IT USED ON YOU!

Effie, Ive read most of your posts, and while i understand your ideas about free speech, you are missing the whole picture. With free speech also comes a certain amount of responsibility. Especially if you work for a billion-dollar company. Now if you cant meet that responsibility, quit! Or risk being fired.

But dont go to work for a company and then cause all hell to break loose because you dont have a common sense filter on your brain. And then when the call comes for your head to roll, wrap yourself in the first amendment.

If excercising his first amendment right is that important, he CAN quit, start his own website, and write racist cartoons until his arm falls off. Otherwise, every ration person knows that when you go to work for someone else, you have to meet their standards of conduct - which includes the things you say. If you dont like it...dont work there!

Look...as far as your other bullshit quotes, I could care less, but dont quote Bobby Seale if you have no idea who the hell he is!

Spouting racist quotes and labeling them "black jesus" doesnt give them any validity.

And black people cant be racist.

I didn't say spouting them and labeling them "black jesus" would give them validity, that's what the guy called himself, and whether they have validity depends on the reader. "Black people can't be racist" is exactly one of the reasons that racism will never go away. You can't fight racism with racism. You can't stop something if you're in denial you even do it. But, like I said, keep promoting racism and biting yourself in the ass like so many others. But don't pretend you have a problem with racism and that you don't love racism and using it to your advantage (race card).

...and thats why i call you an idiot!

Yeah, I have it real good...being black in america and playing the race card. When a cop stops me in the middle of the night i have to fucking worry about getting my fucking brains blown out. The federal government says that blacks are discriminated against in just about every facet of life...even when applying for federal government jobs, but if I stop wallowing in victimhood and making noise when some sub-par cartoonist making a poor attempt at satire, I will be alot better off.

WTF...why am i talking to bread?

Hell yea, you can use the race card to get away with murder, get a job you aren't qualified for, get someone fired, get re-instated back into your highschool when you break its rules, just about anything. It happens, can't say it doesn't. I had a conversation earlier about the subject of racism with a black male. I think he made a lot of good points. One was that it's not so much about race, as it is class. Poor black people and poor white people have a lot more in common than anyone might think or want to realize. As a poor white person myself, I've never received any special treatment for being white. I've been turned down for jobs I was qualified for, I've gone without food, I'm not going to be able to go to a nice college, I never knew my father or had one, I've gone without electricity, I've been evicted, and it wasn't because of my race, it's how much money I don't have and just the way it is for some people (black or not).

I've never had problems with the police myself. But I know plenty of white people who have. I know white people personally (of course, more often than not, you won't hear about it in the news because it's a white person, so I know them only personally) who have been beat by police, white people who have been killed by police. Just one example: My brother's childhood bestfriend was murdered by the police. He was in his home, napping on the couch, cops break down the door and start shooting. He was shot 4 times in the chest. Died. Why? Wrong address. Now if that happened in a black home to a black person, you know Rev. Jesse Jackson and all them would be all over it and it would be all over the news and would be classified as a hate crime, racism, and bigotry instead of just an unfortunate incident. Black people succeed and white people fail too. Black people don't always rise above their circumstances and environmental factors and white people don't either. Innocent black people are killed and innocent white people are killed.

Regardless of the reason, a human being was still killed. Black people get beat up and mistreated and so do white people. But just like white people can't see how much it happens to black people, I don't think black people can see any negativities or discrimination beyond themselves either. And even if they could, more than likely, they wouldn't care and probably derive pleasure from it, because they probably don't believe, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." and that "Two wrongs don't make a right." and they're racist too. Punish ALL white people and make ALL white people feel guilty about what didn't happen in their lifetime or yours.

You can call me an idiot if you want to, I know I don't know everything and that there's a lot I have to learn. But as for racial nuances, that might or might not even be real, in cartoons, movies, and t-shirts are concerned, yea, I wish you'd focus on more important things like YOU and the people closest to you. Life is short. Getting that guy fired isn't going to do anything but get him fired. It doesn't mean you won't see another cartoon like that. Just like if he doesn't get fired, I'm sure he wasn't planning on making another one either way. How many times do police shoot a chimp for almost killing a woman anyway? I think if anyone here does see racism in almost everything, especially imagined, they need to see a therapist.

(My internet is messing up and won't let me post anything really long in one post. That's why.)
