I'm not even sure if she's Mexican. Some people use that one nation to represent the nationality of all latinos just as at one time we used the description "Chinese" to represent all Asian. Anyway she's not white. I have never come across anyone who ever thought she was. Go to wireimage or imdb and check out the photos of Derek Luke and his wife. Often she has such a reddish tint. That and her features when you see them close up at times make me think she is almost a pure blood Amerindian. At the very most she is mixed (mestizo as someone already mentioned). But even if she is mestizo the vast majority of her genetics seemed supply from the indigenous/Amerindian side. Like at least 75%.

I always found her attractive. ome pictures of her aren't great and to be sure she isn't exactly gorgeous. But she has a natural beauty about her and she always has a smile on her face, one that lights up a room. And there are times in which you look at her curves, when she is in the best of shape, and I find myself saying I could not only "hit that" I could see myself happily marrying a woman like that. What I really love about her and Derek is their story. Before he got the role of Antwone Fisher the two of them were basically living in a car. They had originally met I believe in New Jersey at least ten years ago and have been with each other ever since. I didn't see it but years back when Derek Luke won the Independence Spirit Award he asked for his wife to come on stage and then delivered supposedly this fantastic a speech about how much he loved her. There was hardly a dry eye in the house from what I read. So it ticked me off when I saw this message posted by some woman named Debra on BlackVoices regarding Luke's role in the most recent Tyler Perry film:

Mr. Perry,
Please cast blackmen that love and respect their mother and black women and not those that do not, i.e derek luke. It was very disappointing to see derek luke in that role, because he was not deserving.


That's simply a sick, twisted mind. The black community has plenty of them.
 
You didn't read the rest of the thread: according to tv guide, he's married to the White Woman he attended the oscars with.
 
Bryant Gumbel does not even know what a black woman looks like.
