Does anyone know of a free antivirus that actually works well? If not free than a really good antivirus period, except for norton? Thanx!
Lipstick's right, AVG's the best. You should also download SpyBot Search & Destroy and Malware Bytes and CleanUp! Spybot catches what AVG misses, Malware Bytes catches what Spybot misses, and CleanUp! takes the crap off your machine so that the other 3 can work faster.
Thanks for replying Lipstick, my computer is definitely infected with spayware I believe. And I don't have the funds right now to get norton, hopefully it will work for me, thanks again.
For once it's good to need the cheaper option: AVGFree is better than Norton, and won't use as many resources.
If you think you're infected, download & use CleanUp just before AVG & Malware Bytes. CleanUp will let those two work faster. AVG is better for viruses, Malware Bytes will find some of the most common spyware, and Spybot can get rid of any lurking remnants.
Definitely.I got AVG too. No complaints whatsoever. If one day you want some really amazing security for your pc you can purchase(those 2 u need to buy but the're worth every penny) Bitdefender or Kaspersky
It is hard to give you a proper answer but you can easily find your answer online. Most computer guru disagree that AVG is a good anti-Virus... see here : http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ 1. Protect your internet browser , i will advice you to use Mozilla firefox (it is a bit slow but safer ) with the noscript plugin... Trust me, this is the best way so far in my experience , as most time the internet attacks are done through internet scripting language (javascript , etc ...) . Only allow script from trust websites. Mozilla is found here : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html Noscript can be found here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 2. Get a good anti-virus , they are many out there but the best practice is to uodate the virus definitions as often as you are prompt to. Most free version software do not give you that option. 4. Get a Personal firewall , to control your inbound/outbound internet traffic. 5. Get yourself a anti-spyware as well to run along side with the anti-virus , as most anti-virus can't properly deal with spyware. 6. Stop downloading porn , free computer games or softwares. Hope, it helps you... And remember , using microsoft internet explorer is similar to sex without a condom.
Thanks, I was using norton until the trial period expired and they were demanding $55.00 from me.lol AVG, is working pretty good, my computer isn't as slow as it was the other day. I definitely don't download porn or click on porn links.lol My last computer was destroyed by the site limewire, I was trying to download some songs and about a week later my computer was never the same. Does anyone use limewire and if so, did it affect your computers performance?
Once I installed limewite.Just installing the program..no issues.I tried to download 1 song and just that 1st one passed my pc a virus.I did a fabric restore on my pc so it got restored to the same settings it was when I received it.Lol. Virus gone.... but I learned my lessson..No more Limewire for me. Maghali is also right about Internet explorer. Its like a "WELCOME" mat for viruses.Lol.You're way better off with Fire Fox ..oh and Firefox is actually faster than Internet Explorer, too. At least here in Germany.Lol
There's also EMULE .However when trying to download that program my AVG gives me a virus warning. Good they warn me so I can cancel the download before catching the virus. For rap/Hip Hop music I go to www.rapgodfathers.com U can download entire albums there. Im still trying to figure out a safe site for other types of music.
limewire its full of virus i never use it there are many good places to get music anyway i use also AVG its good there is another good antivirus software called Kaspersky
I'm not too familiar with Macs.Is it complicated to deal with them? I know some programs which work with Windows won't work for Macs. Are there many programs out there for Macs? What's the differences between both system?Good and bad. Sorry for all the questions.I don't know too many people with Macs.Hehe
I have always had Macs as my personal computers so I am a bit biased. Basically they are different operating systems and most windows programs will not work on Macs, but that is changing. For instance, I just purchased Sims 3 and it is universal (works on both windows and mac). Last I checked the only virus for Macs came in thru Microsoft Office and it didnt affect the whole system, only the office program. And what that means is I do not have to run expensive, resource robbing anti virus software. When I was single, my boyfriend purchased a new top of the line laptop and we were trying to get him on my wireless network at home. We both sat down and turned on our laptops at the same time. Mine came up in less than a quarter of the time it took his to start even though mine was a lower end iBook and several years old.
Oh wow. That's whatsup. In the stores in my area I don't think I've ever seen a Mac. It's cool that viruses can't affect them so badly. Those things can cause big mess. I've had a few trojan horse virus issues and it was no fun.Lol I also have Sims 3 and just checked the package.Hehe.Universal indeed
