Should Obama send 40,000 troops to Afghanistan? What is your take the way this war is going?

If it can get to point where we can actually "END" this war and bring our troops home, then I'm all for it.

This war is only to be ended, so the next war can start....

not really concerned about who sends what where...

i'm concerned about where they are going to draw those 40,000-something troops from. It's not exactly paradise in Afghanistan, with all the latest fighting, so it can't be a good tour for whoever ends up going there.

Just think..you were coming up on your last month or two in Iraq, just to find out you're getting sent to the forgotten-war with the Taliban.

I couldn't have said this better. This is a real issue for me considering my man is in Iraq right now and they are looking at deploying him sooner than his 12 month dwell time. I hate this. :(

glad you understand that the 40,000 (which on its own represents multiple divisions), isn't going to just magically appear out of thin air. I think that many people are overlooking the fact that many units are already feeling the pinch of Iraq, which is still the Wild West. Now you want to send the same units, that spent time in Iraq, to Afghanistan to help put down a Taliban push. When's it going to end?

Trying to stop an insurgency is like trying to win at 'Whack-a-Mole.' The enemy dictates when and where the battles take place, because you really don't know where to look for them.

I definitely understand the 40,000 and I've actually been seeing quotes of 60,000. I'd really like to know where this will come from considering they've had a hold on re-enlistments for the past several months and making it harder and harder to get in the Army due to already having too many (wth?) joining due to the economy.

    lol i know right...

I was always told to join as a last resort. A bad economy where you can't get a job, seems like a fitting reason. I see why they would put that on hold.
