It's unfortunate that men don't have the option to shoot blanks until they're ready to have a child. Just as it's unfortunate that women can't stop their eggs from descending into their fallopian tubes at will. Women may have to bear a child for 9 months, but it takes two to tango. If a man isn't ready to have kids, then he should be more careful and either abstain :smt043(yeah, right) or wrap it up really well. EDIT: If you don't want a child, but you don't want to abstain, then it's your responsibility to take the necessary precautions against pregnancy. Don't rely on your partner to do it. Don't believe your girlfriend when she tells you she takes her birth control pill regularly. And women should be taking birth control and not relying on the man to wrap it up all the time. It's YOUR responsibility to take necessary precautions until you're ready to have a child. That being said, I know mistakes happen, but they would happen much less often if everyone took responsibility for their own actions and not taking the word of their sexual partners.
wow...that was like deja vo on too many levels...i am going to comment on some high points: the only point i will agree with karma on is "wrap it up" if a man doesn't want to have a child then get yourself fixed or wear a condom...end of story lippy is "prochoice" all the way...not part way...halfway...a woman's body is her own and she makes the final decision child support is not one sided...both men and women either pay in the all mighty dollar or with their time...a baby can not fend for itself and must be cared for both emotionally and financially...i don't even know how one can debate the responsibility of a child...it takes sperm and an egg to create a child...now if a woman goes to a sperm bank then she is on her own financially...if a child is conceived physically between a man and a woman then it's a done deal...the responsibility falls on both under the law there is only one issue i waiver on when it comes to abortion and that is if a man really wants a baby and his significant other does not want it then he ultimately has no say...if it happened to me i would not tell that i was aborting and leave the relationship...there is no way i could stay with someone with that secret as far as things getting personal...smdh...all too familiar for lippy:|
I just added something. That's why I said, it takes two to tango. Accidents happen, but they happen much less when you take responsibility for your own actions. Abstinence is the ONLY way to avoid ever having a baby before you're ready, unless you've had a surgical procedure done (vasectomy, tubal ligation).
Again that's your choice not ours. You and Bookie keep advocating your choice while completely ignoring ours. Basically we should be happy and content with being allowed to bust a nut and subcome to decades of servitude against our wills. We both want the freedom of choice it just seems like you guys want your choices to be more important than ours. Shut the hell up and pay money because its beneficial to you. I'm actually very pro life for myself but pro choice for others. I would love and take care of any kid that came into my life but at 19 there's no way it would have worked. I would have been kicked out of my home and probably being working at a gas station like I did in college.
well, perhaps you should be careful where you bust a nut...btw, not beneficial to me if a man pays child support...beneficial to the well being of the child...if you unable to support a child then perhaps a box of tissue, lube and your right hand are a better way to go...
men have a choice...their choice comes before any of the other choices even have to be made...you decide who you are having bareback sex with and busting a nut inside...so please don't say that you don't have a choice...man up
What Lippy said - its not beneficial for the mom, but for the child. The child support does not carry all the cost, far from it, you are sadly misstaken if you think so, the mother still have to pay for the upbringing of her child. And in the vast majority of tha cases, when you have a situation like that - the mom is the one that usually get her future (is she is young) seriously altered and end up w no education and the man, may choose to not be a 100% caretaker.. even if he pays child support is not the one with the brunt of caretaking and have less of an effect on his future - mark, I didnt say no effect.. but it is worse for the woman in these cases. I am not talking about the women that fool a man into becomming a father, thats anothers story alltogether. Its not an easy situation and sometimes you have to choose between two bad choises. Had it been the man who carried the child, it would been reversed. Having that said, there are cases when things are not fair - I have a friend who married a man who had a child from a previous marriage... He makes a lot of money and has a huge child support each month. His X wife is remarried and the couple, who do not make a whole lot of money, has a lot of adult toys - motorcycles etc... it is clear who payed for those. I also remember a young kid when I was teaching Anatomy in College, who had a child at 20, he was a single dad as his girlfriend chosed to not be involved at all - she took off. She had to pay child support.
If you aren't emotionally, mentally, and financially ready to have a child, then you should be busting a nut while you're looking at nude pictures on your computer or a magazine. Like Lippy said, the men have the first choice when agreeing to have sex with a woman who is of childbearing age: men can choose to wrap it up, men can choose to wait until they know the woman better before engaging in sex with her (as in, is she a psycho who will get pregnant to further her financial agenda?? type of thing) or men can choose rosy palm. It's about communication. You talk to your partner before having a sexual relationship about these things: you find out where he/she stands on the abortion issue, you bring up "what if" situations and find out what the other person would do. Communication is key. Then and only then can you make an informed decision about engaging in sexual relations with anyone (this goes for women, too). But, if you choose to have sex with any girl off the street and don't act as responsibly as you can (wearing a condom, pulling out, etc) then it's also up to you to care for any child that can happen due to that sexual union. If you aren't ready to bear the responsibility that comes along with a child, then abstain from having sexual relations, until you are ready. End of story. A woman can't get pregnant without sperm.
It's really unfortunate that happens. And I've experienced that as well with my stepson. I always said, after that experience, that the person receiving the child support should have to show receipts or something to show where the money is going. It's unfortunate that there isn't a better way to "police" how child support money is allocated.
Yah.. it is very unfair - and in these cases, there should be some renegotiations where all incomes are discussed and not only a specific % taken out. Had he not been involved, I can see that it would be ok but they have split care and he pays for all extra curricular activities, pre-school, most of the girls clothes as the mother just dont seem to do that right - so in the end, as she dont pay that much for her own child, that child support becomes some sort of extra income - which is disgusting. So they now are pursuing full custody.
Wow Bookie your logic is such bs but you're entitled your opinion. Basically you just told me that even though willing participants engage in sex men have to go along with whatever the woman decideds just tough shit. Women can be wreckless and choose what better suites their lives but men should be essentially be punished. All your scenarios include having sex with some pyscho stranger who you don't know so men deserve a fucked up outcome. How about a situation where both participants go into it saying they don't want kids and an accodent happens via inproperly used birth control. They both went into it knowing neither wanted a child but in that scenario if she chooses to a woman can hold a man hostage? I'm not saying men should force abortions on woman but if you get knocked up with a guy you know doesn't want it you should be responsible and leave him out of it because that's not what he signed up for and you know it. Women can't demand equality and demand preferential treatment. Grow up
You're telling me to grow up?? Christ. All of my scenarios do NOT involve a psycho woman. You like to read only what you want to read, is what I'm seeing. So what you're saying is: if a woman gets pregnant through an accident, then it's all on her? WTF?? Like I said, a woman needs SPERM to get pregnant, which means, whether a man wants a child or not, if he engages in sex with a woman then he HAS signed up for the risk of getting that woman pregnant, because he made the choice to have sex. End of story. If he doesn't want kids, then he shouldn't be having sex. But you want the man to have all the fun he wants, regardless of the outcome and when a woman he has sex with gets pregnant, he's allowed to just wipe his hands of the whole affair and blame the woman for having the audacity to get pregnant when HE didn't want a child? It takes TWO people to have a child. TWO. So, you communicate with your partner before having sex with her. If she's unwilling to compromise on her position regarding an unwanted pregnancy, then it's up to the man to say forget it and find someone else or stay with that woman and hope and pray she doesn't get pregnant.
Love the blameless victim scenario Book. In my own life which is the only one I can speak of, both parties usually express their aversion to wanting kids. I will totally admit to being wreckless at times but its with a partner who shares my aversion to wanting children. Something unplanned can happen and we end up in a situation neither one us wanted but if she changes her mind after telling me she didn't want kids I'm stuck. Essentially she made a life choice not only for herself but for me too. How is that fair especially if going in she new I didn't want kids. If she decides she doesn't want a child to complicate her life or her future that's ok but my wants have no merit? Again you're arguement is bs
andrae...you are doing the chicken before the egg...you are a man...men have a penis...men produce sperm...women have a vagina...women produce eggs...when men and women have sex it is very possible if that woman is in her child bearing years that she will get pregnant... what you are arguing comes down to what is physically possible...i don't know why men were not created to carry a baby...if you were then it would be your decision/choice... i see how passionate you are about this issue...my advice, would be exactly the same as bookie...communicate with your partner...be careful
