James Brown rose to fame in the late 50s and was big for quite some time through the 60s and 70s and even had hits thorugh the 80s. But if you were born in the 60s, you were probably not out dancing (as you origianlly stated) in his hayday. Regardless of color. Newsflash, not only black people listened to James Brown. By the time most of the 60s peeeps got out dancing, there were bigger stars out. btw, people are still dancing to James Brown.
Poor guy, calling Elvis and Beatles lames....They did set the stage for a lot of music and are still inspiration and foundation for a lot of modern bands..Besides trying to offend me with that??? That is even worse macth than the James Brown thingy.
Both of you are wrong fam. 1.I never said only black people listen to james brown but black kids are more likely to have grown up with his music. 2.In the 70's mainstream James brown faded out but inner city areas like new york james browns music was being sampled and looped in a new genre called hip hop ,that kids born in the 50's and ..............60's had made together .So yes people born in the 60's were listening , dancing and rhyming to james brown.
That's debateable fam. Jackson Five was amazing. So was Queen and Journey. Beetles also didn't have much competition either
Im so old I cant recall:smt003 But it was the disco stuff of the 80s etc. Boney M, Yaz, but there was a lot of one hit wonders. Oh, Also Jackson Five and MJ of course!!! I very early ventured off of that when Uprising came out and Black Uhuru came on the scene - this stuff was HUGE in Sweden then and I was forever lost in Reggae land. I listened a lot to some Metal bands as well, like Black Sabbath. Was always a fan of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and hate to admit it: Def Leppard. I have always been all over the map when it comes to music.
