Sounds cool. Im starting over and trying to become a math teacher. if the public sector dont higher fast enogh then I will use the math degree or the acct degree to get a gig until i become a teacher. I hate sitting in cubicles. Im too sociable for that .. Im a butterfly. I like accting because it is a great field.
The money is cool but the hours during tax season suck big time. 14 hr days six days a week. What made you want to teach?
well i wanted to teach for years. I was an underwriter for a while (9 years) and the pay sucked and the job sucked. the company was cool. State Farm. good company to work for. Im pretty sure if your an acct or an actuary it would be cool. anyway, i wanted to open a day care because i love kids and i love math ( well at least up to algebra 2/trig. I would be doing highschool) so i figure i will do teaching. one day open up a daycare or something or after school tutoring thang. I would love to work in the urban areas to get the young bros and sistas a leg up. If i dont get hired quickly i can use my math/education degree to get an actuary job or something like that or maybe work in the science field until a teaching gig comes up. Money is not a big deal for me. I have just really learned how to manage it so once i become debt free then i can live like a king. how are the hours after tax season ? did you have to take the GRE ?
That's funny I actually work for state farm and I'm taking my first acturial exam this august. Its more my style I like solving problems. The hours are generally 9 to 5 right now. I actually took the gmat not the gre. I got a 6something I think 620 I forget though.
I may start an Andrae and Goodlove talk about their schooling and jobs thread. ;-) (Just kidding, carry on)
ahhh man. that is awesome. i did not know you can be an actuary with an acct degree. i thought for the most part it is for just math majors. im studying the gre now. im screwing off and need to get serious. im taking the test next week. i dont know if im gonna do well tho. these tests are a nasty hustle in my book. if you have your bs then you should not have to take another test. but it is what it is. how you like SF ?
i act like a dumbass on the web but in real life im a big dumb ass !!!! LOL right now im giving ajax a hard time. I fucking with hard. he takes stuff kind of serious. then again i do too sometimes
lol. so how you like the farm ? i saw where you guys put in new card readers in the regional office in bham. its no joke.
Only if you answer this (correctly), will any man worth his salt be intimidated by you. If you cant answer (correctly), youre just an average Show your steps (no guessing)
How are you defining orbit? Do you mean pass over along an orbital path, or do you mean to complete a revolution along that orbital path? If you define it as passing the point for the 3rd time along the orbital path it takes 24 hrs. If you define it as completing a full orbital revolution after passing it for the 3rd time, then stopping at that point without passing it the 4th time, then it's 32 hours.
Its says the satellite travels at a constant speed. So when it reverses I have assumed that it reverses at the same speed as it is traveling the forward speed. So by making that assumption my calculations are as follows. First cycle + travelling 1/4 way back + travelling 1/4 way forward.(The spot) = 8 hrs + 2hrs( reversing 1/4 way back) + 2hrs(1/4 way forward again) = 12hrs It does this 3 times... So the answer is 12 hrs *3 = 36 hrs..
Madiba ,youre very smart woman you nailed it, pal. My method was a lil diff though just go: (8+2)+ (10+2)+ (12+2) = 36 (its a simple pattern) or (8x3)+3( 2+2) or (8+2) +(8+2)+(8+2)+3(2) = 36 (calculate complete orbit + 0.25 forward, then the last variable is the .25 reserving 3 times) or 8 + 10 + 12+((.25X8 ) -8 )= 36 (last variable is the 0.25 reversing) Nothing big. You got it though Epsy on the other hand, she clearly wasnt using her brain
Gotta give it time off sometime BMJ, and everyone has an off day. Be thankful I don't work at NASA... positively frightening to think of what I could f-up when I wasn't paying attention. :smt005
Does a man want a smart woman? He does if he is an intelligent man. Notice the use of "intelligent." Intelligence doesn't always equal smart. You can have someone who is amazingly smart and pursuing graduate level courses in a subject like nuclear physics, but they have no common sense. Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall. Then you have some people who only have a high school education but are able to discuss engineering principles with you. A man that is comfortable with himself and happy will not be intimidated by the degrees a woman holds. I would think that a man who has an education would prefer a woman who has one as well. Men: Would you rather spend an evening with a woman who on the surface looks wonderful, but underneath is vapid and shallow and can only discuss what the latest Hollywood starlet is wearing and with whom she is sleeping? Or would you like to spend an evening with a woman who is attractive, but can carry on a conversation and encourages you to defend your points - not because she wants an argument, but because she is genuinely interested in what you are thinking? Is the latter "too" smart and intimidating?
the media has put out this false info that men are intimidated by smart women so they can justify them being alone and being a bitch. of course men want smart women because we want the good convo...we dont have to explain why you need to be on a budget and other obvious things. they will be a complement to us
