Life is Beautiful is a good movie. Roberto Benigni was good in that role. He played Pinocchio too which is not like the Disney version.
Both. I only saw the original subtitled version....It's all I care for... When Benigni made his version of "PINOCHHIO", the ONLY version that came outin English-speaking fiefdoms was the overdubbed version..With **no** alternate subtitled version.. Thick,that was a French Canadian movie based on a book written by a Haitian who lived in Canada named Dany Laferriere who also wrote the screenplay. I saw it and it is good.

Excellent, but it'll never be the champion...................... "BAD BOY BUBBY" will always be NUMBER ONE!!! The TOPPER! The KING of them ALL! To start from a *very* appallingly frighteningly - not to mention appallingly frightening - beginning...and all throughout...to LITERALLY a WALT DISNEY-esque Happily Ever After conclusion....this film is the DEFINITION of cutting edge! Also Two Thumbs Up, Five Stars, and A Nobel Prize.... By the way, kinda interesting to note that the star, Nicholas Hope, kinda bears a tad of a resemblance to Jack Nicholson.. absolutely love romper stomper...russ was amazing in that. believe that's what got the international film industry interested in him. never seen bad boy bubby. always meant to and just never got around to it for some reason. it's on my to do list. another is chopper with eric banna before he went international as well. if you haven't seen it, i'd highly recommend that you do. based on a true story of an ex-convict (aren't we all) here in australia called mark 'chopper' read.

Not forgetting: "IL POSTINO" (The POSTMAN) [NOT the film starring Kevin Costner] Notable for the star Massimo Troisi working steadily throughout the filming - even though he delayed having a life-saving heart operation. Sadly, when the film wrapped...Troisi, on his way to the wrap party, went home...kissed his wife, and dropped dead at his front door. His Best Actor in a Foreign Film was awarded posthumously.. One other one that I forgot...from a Director who is *very* much in the news as I write this: "The PIANIST" Directed by ROMAN POLANSKI...He pretty much outdid himself with that one...and he *is* a gifted talent.. Cartoon,The Postman is a wonderful flick. I was in tears myself because him and his character died. He deserved that Oscar.
One other that I *might* have neglected to mention: "The PIANIST" - Directed by ROMAN POLANSKI Whatever anybody may say about his current state of existence...amd the legal entanglements thereof...he IS a gifted directorail talent...and this film (Based on the real-life account of Wyladislaaw Szpilman) was a GAS! Das Boot ot The Boat was my first film that I saw from Wolfgang Petersen. I read somewhere that when the film based on the novel by Lothar Gunther Buchheim, was first appropriated by an American studio. John Sturgess was going to direct it and Paul Newman was going to be in it. The first draft of the script made the German U-boat crew really nasty villains. Paul Newman was to be cast as an American commander tasked with hunting the boat down and sinking it to the bottom. Well, it didn't happen and the film was sort of in limbo until a German studio got the property back. Petersen crafted a film that was unique in atmosphere. Director of Photography Jost Vacano provided a closed in, self contained world where dangers was all around and there was no escape. I saw it on cable in the 80's. I remember the haunting music of Klaus Doldinger. I bought the soundtrack. I talked to a friend of mine about it. I remembered feeling sorry for the crew. It made me realize that those men serving in the German military during WW2 were not Nazis(though the Nazis served in many capacities during the time). These men were soldiers fighting for Germany. The Director's cut of the film suggested that there was a longer version of the film available. The longer cut was nearly six hours in length. I saw Das Boot in the dubbed version and the original German. Great film.
