I think you are right in part. He may want booty call. I don't. I want to be able to see him out(which I know will happen) without the akwardness. I think you may be right aobut NOT being able to be friends with an ex-lover, but at my age and with my life experience, I would like to be able to evole past that. That being said I am going to take the advice of the board and NOT meet with him, as it may be too soon for him.

and yeah, I still care about him as a person but not as a lover

A booty call is definitely a possible motive...that's one of the things that crossed my mind as my ex bf's reason for contacting me the other day.

    safety class:

to your left on the wall is the "pussy in the glass" and it states....

"In CASE of HORNINESS (the urge to masturbate) pull lever and break glass then proceed to get rocks off"

They call it "The Glass Case"! I had some female friends that had "My dick in the glass case". My ex tries this with me but every time we do it she starts catching feelings again.

In case of emergency, I can take care of myself. I don't do the "emergency dick" thing.

I'm not one to be friends with exes. I just don't see a value in it. However, I know that many people do not see things the way I do. If I were to be friends with an ex, it would only be after a considerable time has passed since we dated. That way, it's less likely to be about anything other than friendship. That's strictly my opinion, of course. LOL.

I do understand your need to be at least amicable, since you share mutual friends.

What is curious is that you haven't told your new guy yet. I'm not sure how long you have been dating this new guy, but given the circumstances, it says a lot that you haven't told him about the budding friendship with the ex.

I think it's good that you are postponing the lunch. Maybe you both should wait a bit longer before you spend time together as friends. Your new guy might not like you sharing time with a recent ex, ya know?

I am with Bookie on this. The emotions and physical attraction won't leave you that fast. I can only talk about my own experience, maybe you can find yourself in some of them again. To quit a relationship and to understand that it's really over takes some time. When you see this person again, you feel a certain intimacy and the way to go back is very simply. But then you have to remember, what was the reason that you broke up, and to be consequent. It's also not important what you friend wants or wishes, you have to stand to your own decision. The "fight" inside of you will take long, but in a friendship, it will be easier after some time, till you just think about it with a smile on your lips. I assume that's the point of time, when you are over it and you are prepared for a new love and a worthful and supportive friendship with
    your EX-Love.

Late breaking update. Called him and said no to lunch. But DID run into him while out with my gilrs clubbing tonight, we were friendly, but it was sufficently akward as my new boyfriend was with me. But the 3 of us handled it like mature adults. I don't know if he and I can have an independent friendship, and my new guy is great and not worth blowing for the ex.

I did not tell him because I know that the ex and I would only we friends and I don't want to cause any problems, but like I said in my update since we ran into the ex out tonight, I think that all friendship possibilites are out the window

I think generally speaking women keep men around they have been intimate with as a sort of security blanket. I also don't believe that men and women can be more than cursory "hey how you are you doing" type of friends without one or both wanting something more. Feeling something more.

...now that does not mean either will act on it,but I believe they love these feelings. They are comfortable, and something they can emotionally lean on. And I never understood.

"Hey I had your cock inside of my body, you are not good enough for me to have as a mate, but lets be buddies" And for lack of a deeper explanation if a man sticks around its ta hopin' he can hit it again one day.
