ummm.... lmao...that boy crazy like i said..i know enough to know there's always been some bad blood between the English and the Irish. Shit, i remember listening to a Morrisey song called 'English Heart, Irish Blood,' on youtube, and reading the crazy comments written by Irishmen towards the English.:smt030
see you should have moved further down to broward. Miami and Broward are where it is going on. You are going to have a hard time finding a confederate flag in a union state. Remember M.A. was on the side of the union and Lincoln.
I have seen Confederate flags in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Very scary, as there is no way anyone here can use the culture bullshit that people claim when they fly the disgusting rag down South.
I've been to both Irelands, Scotland and a few others. I've lived in Europe. I still go back there every year. Out of all the places that I have been to, I felt at home in Ireland. Especially Northern Ireland. They were the most hospitable and friendliest out of all of them. It didn't matter where I went, from the big cities to the smaller ones, they were all nice. The only time I was reminded of my skin color was at this one club that I went to. The DJ took a break to announce to the crowd that I was there and to welcome me. While on the mic (mind you I was all the way at the back of the bar) he told one of the patrons at the front to move a little bit to the left cause he was standing on my dick.
I've never been to Boston, thought about visiting but with all the racism talk I'll just stay away. I remember around 13 years ago some chick was on the radio talking about how she felt the racial tension down here in Atlanta. She stated it wasn't like that back in Boston until a caller chimed in and told her "it's because Boston doesn't have a large black population like Atlanta".
If you want to visit the summer is when we get all the tourists and the city is more diverse. There are good places in town that are accepting and the black neighborhoods of course are fine. Nothing that is of any note is in the racist parts of Boston. Most of the tourist stuff the Common, Freedom Trail, etc are downtown. The entertainment areas are fine to go to. As is Little Italy aka the North End. Boston is also very walker friendly. The Fenway are, Copley and Cambridge are also fine. Gotta remember, LIVING in a place and going to local places is way different than the tourist places.
that's what i told myself. If i ever went anywhere, id stick around the tourist areas then migrates a little outwards with caution. I think many places are like that in general. There is always some sort of segregation going on, and if you venture into the wrong area, you may be harassed because of it. Like a white man strolling down North Philadelphia at 2 in the morning. That's a recipe for an ass whooping.
I spent spring break in Boston several years ago and walked away unimpressed with the city, but didn't feel unwelcome at any point. The history of immigration and urban planning in the northeast explains much of the frustration that I've seen from men and women on the board living in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. . . . When those ships from Europe landed in New York during the late 19th/early 20th century and other ports on the East Coast, people were usually ensconced in neighborhoods that matched their ethnic persuasion. On the west coast we have degrees of ethnic enclavism, but nothing like you find in the northeast. When I hear the term Polish, Italian, or Irish neighborhood, I automatically think of the east. People are more determined keep it in the family over there. The rate of "mixed" marriages almost never ticks above 5% the further east you are of the Mississippi river.
Interesting map. I wonder what percentage of those marriages in the west include a white & white hispanic partner.
I know what you mean.. Mexicans are so racist they'd make a southern redneck blush. If they were our friends and allies they'd be deporting them.
The movie "Gangs of New York" mentioned the New York City Draft Riots of 1863 which lasted three days. The Irish-American workers turned on the Black-Americans beating and killing some.
America is the only place you can go and NOT be on the bottom once you arrive. An untouchable from India can come to America knowing he won't be at the bottom anymore. In a society stratified by race...that bottom rung is occupied by Black people...and everybody knows it. Jews and Arabs don't blow each other up on US soil..because there is somebody below them.
