Who do you miss..

Just my two cents here but, there in lies the problem and the root to some of negative tension and infighting, Tam : We are not all in the same boat here when it comes to the issues of WW/BM relationships. The current majority of people here, all in all my participate and support WW/BM relationships, but do not have a strong invested interest overall in WW/BM relationships such as the minority of people like you or I because we deal with the ups and downs of WW/BM as part of our everyday lives and they more or less don't. The current negative vibe that seems to be hanging over the forum along with some of the normal personality clashes that have been going on here over the last couple of months are indirectly because of this fact. There can’t be nor will there probably ever be any sort of united front on this forum because everyone here is not on the same page when it comes to how we view and participate in WW/BM relationships.

That's worth a lot more than two cents, Ra-Ra. You're right about the reality of it all...we're not all on the same boat. I was referring more to the ideal, which I need to let go of because sadly it doesn't apply. A couple of us recently had a coversation about this very thing. We're definitely in the minority around here because we do live & breathe those ups & downs on a daily basis & a lot of people don't get that because they don't share the same type of experience. Realistically I know there will never be a united front in that respect, but I do wish people would show some respect for the forum itself.

Sadly the fact that we have people here who see no problem with people who are clearly not in WW/BM relationships joining the forum and seem to welcome and encourage it.....any and all respect ,if there ever was any, for the forum can be pretty much said to be gone and never coming back.

That's what I don't understand. Not like we need policing, but the site has a premise and a purpose. There are millions of message boards to join if you just want to shoot the shit and look at pix.

Very true. The saddest thing about it is that it makes no sense for them to be here when they can't identify with the WW/BM experience.

Wow, it seems I have in fact been missing a great conversation over here while engaging in an 'over-spirited' discussion about definitions of black vs. white with someone I don't even know. You guys are right that there has been a lot of bickering lately, in my opinion unnecessarily so.

Now, now. We're insecure, paranoid, ignorant, closed minded or worse if we don't allow these good folks to take part and speak their mind here. After all, all we seem to do here is kiss each others asses and whine about the things we go through according to some folks.

I don't mind the presence of people with different opinions about things, as long as they're here to be supportive of WWBM. Full stop. Beyond that, we can go back and forth, provided it's respectful. It is hard, however, to see why you would want to participate here if you're not in a WWBM relationship or at least want to be in one. I just had an interminable debate with a guy (I think) who objected to Mariah Carey being called 'black' because she wasn't solely black. I have had these kinds of arguments applied to my son because my ex and I were a WWBM Spanish/PR/African-American couple and it touched a raw nerve and I just got into it. After a few condescending comments I began to wonder why I would even continue, but I was pretty heated by that point.

There are a few of us who wonder the same thing on a daily basis. You are definitely not alone in your thinking.

Fact: If a child has one black parent and no matter if that child is accepted and is comfortable by both sides of the parents families, everyone outside that immediate family will view that child as Black. Talking from experience with my own two children and from pass experiences with people I have been friends with who are in B/W relationships.

My sentiments exactly. Then we went around and around about other groups of people who are not 100% black (Tuaregs, Latino mulattos, blah blah blah) and he objected to them not being considered as white and start attacking the one-drop rule (which I think everyone on the forum believes is BS) while I was only trying to acknowledge its existence whether we like it or not.

I got heated. When my ex and my son and I would go out in the midwest before relocating to Florida we had this kind of crap all the time.

You're so right, Ra-Ra. How do we live with our terrible selves?

Well, I may be thought of as all those things when I refuse to be politically correct, but I don't give a fat, hairy rat's ass. I refuse to kiss the asses of fools that want to force their baseless opinions down my throat. They don't know shit, so they can't tell me shit.

I'm going to stand up for what I believe in, & if folks don't like that, it's their damn problem. Why should/would I care what a troll or a fool thinks anyway?

Okay, my rant is over (for now, lol). ;)

You should go into the Steve Nash thread and drop your 2 cents in....:)

My ex is from Spain and I'm African-American and Puerto Rican. We saw no problem but there were always racial absolutists (on both sides) trying to force the issue, from people calling my son 'white' for being pale and having wavy hair (as a child, which he isn't anymore) like this cat, to others trying to exclude him because he's half-black, which means, in the US...black. It got to the point where my ex would be telling people about the Moors in Spain to get them out of her face. Ridiculous to have a white woman having to give a history lesson to prove that she's got .000001% black blood somewhere along the way to not have to defend our wwbm relationship & marriage. That's why we packed it in and moved to Florida, where a wwbm relationship for us and being black and Spanish-speaking for my son is not some sort of contradiction.

And my apologies in advance to anyone on here if I have offended you in any way on the forum.

I've never seen anything from you that warrants an apology.

Exactly.

Yeah, it's confusing because it makes no sense.

Exactly. I'm white, but my son is black.

Yep, it never ends when it comes to idiots & their jacked-up sense of "logic".

OK.

To me, the fact that the forum is highly moderated, has created an apparent site structural degenerated. For starters, there is an increasing amount of "trigger happy" mods objecting actions for the purpose of psuedo "power". I use the term "trigger happy" to mock their childish antics and ways of deleting posts, threads and "suspect" trolls due to childsih intentions. Secondly, i doubt any significant moderation is trully required in a website such as this. Granted, if you find it "offensive" that a young black male uses terms such as "white cunt" , "white devil" "white bitch" etc as a symbolic representation of all head-less misguided white bitches who epitomizes the "ameriskanks" idealogy , then maybe you should take a chill pill, or better yet, stick your head out of your asses.

Also, what ive noticed is the level of recent plummeting in terms of "substance" on the site. I think satyricoon is doing a great job with his worn out "mama jokes", but his level of "substance" is negatively proportional to the level of intellectually quick witted WRITERS present. For example, anyone who joined the site recently would notice a guy by the name "des", who, to me, behaves as the sites "golf club", if will, to put balls like saty in place, because as i said, the higher the intellect, the less likely satyricon will make any attempt.

In reference to who i personally miss, I will admit that there are a lot of posters who post way too much-and I cannot judge a mans way of life, as such actions merely signifies a passion for their opinions. Whether these opinions are parrallel to mine is also irrelevant. As long as the post provides "substance" of some sorts, Im all for it. I dont miss anybody in particular as there is always a person ready to fill the missing seat.
Is there an "hiararcchy" of some sort??? I tend to disagree with lipsticks assessment of karma. There is no relation to his countless posts in this site representing anything close to "macho" or "alpha". From what Ive seen, he is simply very passionate in countless topics and his skills are sprinkled all over-- but then again, this applies to everyone. I will not analyze lipsticks stubborness either, because that, to me, is an issue for debate, and also highly irrelevant.

So i was gone for a while, and the main reason I took my leave was to visit south africa during the fifa world cup and never bothered reading this site (not to mention employment obligations). However, after returning I will divulge what i believe are the main problems at our disposal.

1. Trigger happy mods -- I will not name any names and even though there appears to be a few mods who really get shit done, I think the majority of them should be demoted. We need less mods but more,,,in fact many more responsible posters -- and im not refering to the popular ones who kiss ass for "reputations"(which will be discussed later)
2. Shit talkers and blabbermouths -- Theyre good in their own rights, and i think they make the site what it is. While we certanly need a *policy* to maintain order, I doubt the "police" in here are enforcing their powers legally and that , to me, is killing the entertaining "feel" of the site. Also a person is not a "troll" for asking IR based questions . To give specific examples-- this forum includes the philosophy of interracial relations between bm and ww, which should provide an activation of free thoughts from the general public, free spirits and there should be no restraint to a persons imagination
3. Reputation points as being the main governor of the so called "wwbm hiararchy" -- Contrast to the trolls who often make obtuse comments in post form, there is a high degree of senior members who use this device as attack tactics, which, is good too, however it also unveils degrees of cowardice. I also believe there is an increase number of posters who use this "rep" system to conjecture who is who on this site. I would make that error too, if i were new. However the fact that countles "one liners" have high rep points, i think for the benefit of the board ,the powers of "reputation points" and also for the person and his/her opinions to be heard, people should atleast provide some support for their views or refrain from presenting them at all. And people should send "rep points" only based on said supports, and not merely for members that keep saying "yeah" followed by a ;)....lol..but thats just fishful thinking
