Ok I got you. that is a good question BUT I would suggest that they would need to take it at a college level even if it is repetitive.

I agree with you to a point but it seems to me it would be beneficial to do so.

 

This would hold back the American child. Children are ready to learn most of these concepts before they get to high school. They are quite simple but the adults hold them back. They should repeat only if they get lower than 75%. other than that, They have proven that they are competent at that subject if they did it fairly.

Not only would "free higher learning" increase taxes but degrees would be useless and facilities would be similar to highschool, which we dont need. Now, i think there should be free education for "poor" [and gifted]people, but then again, im sure such things currently exist(scholarships enyone?).

Im not saying poor people should remain poor, but you must understand the concept of cognitive abilities, and the fact that the average citizen is not qualified for a seat at a university. Almost all types of education is self-taught, even what you get at large universities. Take for example mathematics, your actions and efforts should be exceptional in order to educate yourself and thus get an exceptional education. The problem is way too many people neglect their kids and depend entirely on what the system is spoon feeding them. This happens a lot in poor neighborhoods where education is so backward that parents are not "smart" enough to review homework with kids, and kids suffer majorely( after all, education starts at home). Im not saying such neighborhood lacks "intelligence", because ive seen talented poor people obtaining an education due to their drive and ability to achieve in this system regardless of set backs. however, like i said, a man should pay his dues and if he wants something really bad, such as a higher education, hes gotta be hungry enough to get it- by any means necessary:smt023

Moderating the free market mechanism in some cases and communism aren't the same thing.

Paranoia about that issue is how the land of the free ended up with people who had been working hard, holding down their damn job living in tents because they had lost their homes. But I dont' wanna go there.

Truthfully, education reform is pointless without a complete overhaul of the American government and way of thinking. As a rule, we are a greedy, selfish people who want instant gratification on everything, insist every one of our children are gifted geniuses and should be treated as such, demand respect from teachers but give them no respect, and consider ourselves too good to go out into a field and pick oranges from a tree and yet bitch about the number of illegal immigrants.

But unfortunately we're a nation of incredibly dumb people. There are entire states where people would believe what you're saying is communism. God forbid the government actually teach our children anything. And that's another thing we really should encourage more adult ed at a more affordable cost. Give incentives for adults to become more educated and aware but I know that's only a dream because too many people profit off the ignorant.

Yes they are dumb they just happen to be dummies who are good test takers incapable of critical and original thought. The same high scoring students would rather twitter and facebook than actually read books. I would love for someone to prove me wrong but unfortunately your generation is filled with too many entitled arrogant assholes who are in for a very rude awakening when they find out their parents lies of them being the best and the brightest without any work to be as true as Santa Clause.
