I basically explain it to white people who act like being called "Cracker" is the same thing as being called "Nigger" in a way they can understand.

It's like watching someone get hit in the face with a water balloon and watching another person get hit in the face with a brick. And then trying to claim that there isn't any difference because they were both hit in the face.

Most white people still won't get it, but a few will.

i was on the front lines with that shit growing up. Most white people just laughed when I said a derogatory word against them in rebuttal. There are some that are probably offended by it..but as said before, there is no historical, genocidal weight attached to it. After all, we were the victims of what seemed like a mass extermination.

Lmao try telling kunoichi that. Homegirl loves using the defense that being called cracker is being associated with the most vile human beings ever is the same and we can't tell them what's offensive to them. It's down right hilarious.

That's probably because she has an affinity towards BBC and brothas
    she's not a good example...

Seriously tho, we can't throw any weight behind that...we are second class citizens after all

White people in general don't like hearing that because most in this country just aren't fair and why should they be when the system works in their favor.

Reminds me of some responses white people gave when asked if they would give up their white privelege

on the real tho, I wouldn't give up my american privilege to live in the slums of rio de jinero, so that some poor shit can live in my shoes

it's human nature I guess and not an exclusive trait of whites

    lol

    privilege exists on multiple strata

if you want to do away with one, you need to do away with all

sadly many blacks dont realize that

you're a man too...u and me should be the last to talk about privilege..

being born a man in this WORLD generally lends more favor

But its actual real physical dominance not psuedo racial shit. Like if you give a man and a woman all the same equipment and training as a man in every physical arena and a lot of mental ones men are just better across the board. You take any standout female Olympian gold medalist she's rarely as good as an average male counterpart unless its maybe gymnastics which judges difficulty differently for men and women. But if you look at running swimming, and jumping it's barely on contest. I'm not saying women aren't talented or mentally capable because they definitely are but I did notice that growing up even amongst the most academically elite amongst us the women definitely did well but they also seem to study longer and were far more serious about their school work. While a lot of the dudes were pot heads but thats all anecdotal when I actually look at the number of women in male dominated fields like hard sciences and engineering you find a lot less women but they dominate the hell out of teaching, english, and social work.
I don't want to start a debate about it but individually men appear to just be better than women both mentally and physically, but I could be wrong. I would love to hear thoughts on it.

    Two things.

    1) Godfather's Pizza tastes like industrial*-grade paste made dirty, nasty love to corrugated plastic and Chinese cardboard. It is absolutely disgusting. How he salvaged the company? I will never know.

    2) By all means I hope he wins the primary. This will be the true test of whether the Republican*s have truly conquered their racist roots. Ah, schadenfreude.

We all know that Honky is a derogatory term, its a word that should die along with numerous other derogatory terms labeling all sorts of ethnic backgrounds - but in relation to the Tea-party, then I have no problem with it for some reason:)

THIS is what I get for reading messages while I'm not signed in here (IE without the benefit of my "ignore" list). Men are better than women mentally and physically?

Imagine for a moment that I said something ignorant like "white people appear to just be better than black people both mentally and physically." And then I were foolish enough to say that I didn't want to start a debate about it.... really?

Seriously. It's the 21st century, and you're still spouting this sexist BS?

    I totally agree with you.

This is why I find it hard to believe some of the posters here are who they claim to be. That white supremacy attitude seems to raise its head more often than not.

You are right, you can apply the same thing to blacks, not just women. Physically, comparing men and women is like comparing apples and oranges.

Not only do you have posters trying to be something they are not but they also seem to lack any life experiences to be able to relate to others.

Professor comparing race to gender isn't anywhere near the same thing in this instance. Race is a social construct not a natural one. Your race doesn't determine ability. Like saying Asians are good at math. They're not good at math because they have a math gene it's because it's common practice for them as a society to put more time into it at an early age.
In 21st century men generally run faster jump higher have more stamina and are twice as strong as women. We have nothing to slow us up for 9 months like pregnancy. Sports wise I'll pick any bench warmer male over elite female athlete with exception of maybe gymnastics.
Mentally when I think of whose made the biggest contributions to science- men, the best comedians - men, IMO most influential and best artists- men.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying we don't need women we absolutely do but this crossed my mind and I decided to share.

Sex (male/female) is biological but gender is HUGELY social. Why is it that gender roles vary so significantly over time and from one place to another? At the same time that women were denied the right to vote in much of the west, they held leadership positions in Scandanavian countries, where gender roles dictated that men were out at sea for long periods of time. Biologically there is little difference betweem the women in Scandanavia or elsewhere, but socially the difference was 180 degrees. Just one example.... but gender roles are definitely social constructs.

Perhaps true... women endure pain better and hold up better to forces like gravity. Depends on what you value, I suppose, as to which is "superior."

At most a basis to discriminate against pregnant women. Not all of us are pregnant all the time.

Well, I could find many counterexamples of women who have contributed to science and art, among other fields, but I have a book to write... maybe a job for Mikey. I will, however, be happy to compare resumes with you. ;)

On the point of comedy, in particular, this is hugely social. Being funny is unfeminine. There was a really insightful piece about this in maybe Vanity Fair a few years ago... I'll have to find that.

(Ok, found the original Hitchens piece:
    http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2007/01/hitchens200701?currentPage=1

    and a companion piece:

    http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2008/04/funnygirls200804)

You are completely rehashing the same racist arguments that people have always raised against different ethnic/racial groups and using them against women. You don't even see it.... you are just like the Nazi scientists who were measuring brain size to prove the inferiority of black people. This is really just sad!

Well, if you actually look at the fact that women were not ALLOWED to run, jump etc until within my lifetime, you'd find top female athletes are gaining ground faster than men are...which means we might eventually see an evening off in some areas, particularly those reliant not on fast twitch muscles, but endurance. Already, in rock climbing the top women and the top men are very close in level of difficulty, etc. (I speak from personal experience).

As for intellectual abilities, I'll put my resume, and my intelligence (as well as my "distinguished contributor" status for a book or three) against a man's any day. Intelligence does not require testosterone.

As has already been pointed out to you, much of "who is better" comes out of what is valued. I'd be willing to be a lot of men wouldnt particularly relish the experience of 24 hours labor and delivering a nine and a half pound baby out of their anus, for instance, but women do the equivalent every day, often without benefit of medication or intervention of any kind. But we overlook that sort of strength because it isnt male oriented, and thus society values it less.

Yes, in case anyone was wondering, I am a feminist, and damned proud to be one. Women and men are not "the same" but they are equal, and that our culture chooses to value one over another does not make gender anything *other* than the same kind of cultural construct which race is in terms of worth.

I'm going to reply to both of you in this post.

First Nerdy girl I just read both those articles about women being funny which greater supports my argument because they both illustrate a need for men to be funny to get a woman's attention not vice versa. I'm not saying women can't be funny but the universally funny comedians that everyone usually agrees on are stand ups like Carlin and Pryor even Lenny Bruce. I've yet to see a female equivalent. Even though I concede there are some really good female tv writers. And I would gladly put my resume against yours but you'd win since you've got over a decade on me but being able to advance career wise doesn't show overall intelligence to me it just shows hard work. Why aren't we hearing about more female innovators who can create industries and I get this is male dominated world and wont take away from that but I've never seen too many women with imagination which probably explains why so many do better in school then men since education is rote and by the book.
In terms of physical ability both of you appear to be too smart to not understand what I meant. It depends on what you consider superior? We as people marvel over the physical skills that allowed us to survive eons ago. That's why we ALL respect sports that test endurance, speed, strength, and strategy. What sport is solely based on balance and who cares about it?
We aren't the same and we are not equal. Is man who is 5'5 physically equally to one who is 6'3? And as far as intelligence is concerned I'm not saying women can't be as smart as men or even smarter but as a result of the way we're structured as a society you don't have to be and need creates drive. I know that for me to get anywhere in life I have to be twice as good as the next guy and five times better if he's white or else I wont get the things I want in life like a nice home or a nice car or a beautiful woman. No such need exist for women as a whole. So while there might be women out there who excel it doesn't seem to be the focus of most women because everything down to entertainment can be provided somewhere else. Men aren't engrained with those thoughts socially.
So I'm not saying men are inately more intelligent we just have to be.

Obviously, this was his attempt at humor as there have been too many outstanding contributions on the part of women for there to be any seriousness in such comments.

Considering that the elite women sprinters can best all but a handful of men, I think that women are showing there're no weaklings on the field either. Add to that the fact that younger women now being involved in wrestling and boxing, it may be a matter of time before women become more competitive in those sports as well.
