Roy Williams wants to get back the ring he mailed to girlfriend
By Chris Chase
Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams is going to court to get back the $76,000 engagement ring he gave to a former beauty pageant winner.
In February, Williams proposed to his girlfriend, Brooke Daniels. When she turned him down, Daniels didn't return the ring. According to Williams' affidavit that was filed in a Texas court last week, he asked for the ring back but was told by Daniels that she had lost it. An insurance investigation later revealed that Daniels' father was in possession of the ring.
Michael Daniels told the Odessa American that his daughter will return the ring to avoid the lawsuit even though he says he has documentation saying Williams told her to keep it.
Pretty standard stuff, right? Minus the price tag, this is a dispute that probably happens every day in the United States. Except it's not because most people don't propose the way Roy Williams did.
From the Odessa American:
Williams has declined to comment for the story, but in an affidavit signed by Williams, he claims he sent $5,000 for school and dental bills, a baseball for Daniels' brother and — as a surprise — a recorded marriage proposal with the ring through the mail just before Valentine's Day to Daniels. However, when Daniels declined the proposal, she did not return the ring.
He recorded a marriage proposal and then sent the ring through the mail? Unless you're a soldier stationed overseas, that's just about the lamest thing I've ever heard. If you proposed through the mail, wouldn't you not want other people to hear that? I'd consider eating the $76,000 just so I didn't have to tell anyone.
It's a shame Daniels is giving the ring back and avoiding trial because we may have learned the specifics of how Williams went about this process. Was it a video proposal? Did he record it in song form? And how did she reject him, with a return receipt?

Why would you handle something that important through the mail?

It showed a lack of confidence in the relationship. None of us have a clue how she felt about him in the first place but, this probably didn't help.

That dumbfounded look on his face is priceless.

This does not have anything to do with WW/BM per se but it does have to do with relationships and questionable decision making.

Why in the world is Williams sending $80,000 worth of stuff packaged with a baseball? Doesn't it cost more to ship a baseball then to just buy one?

Aside from the random gift sent, why is Williams trying to get married through the mail? Why can't he fly to where she's at and surprise her that way? I'm not expert on the topic, but I think that would be just a little more romantic then just getting something in the mailbox thinking it may be junk mail.

Lots of questions to be asked in this case but it sounds like it's not going to go much further. The dad has agreed to return the ring and the lawsuit will likely be dropped.

A temporary injunction hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Friday in district court and that will hopefully mark the end of this incredibly bizarre situation.

Roy Williams seeks $77K ring back from ex-Miss Texas USA

By Nate Davis, USA TODAY
Roy Williams initially mailed the ring -- you read that correctly -- and a recorded marriage proposal to Daniels in February. Evidently that did not set off wedding bells in her head even though the couple had lived together for a year.

Daniels allegedly told Williams she'd lost the ring after he requested it back. Williams' insurance company later told him Daniels' father, Michael, was in possession of it.

"He said (to Brooke Daniels), 'I'm not like a lot of people, I don't want the ring back. You'll eventually come back to me,' and she didn't," says Michael Daniels, who plans to give the ring back to Williams rather than endure the lawsuit.

Roy Williams never lived up to the hype after he came out of college. Looks like now he will be a household name after all.

If you can't look her in the eyes as you propose...

what trash, he should be happy he's not stuck with her....she sounds like a real golddigger.......

I swear, if im famous id do my damndest to hide my celebrity when scoping out a potential wife.

That said, dude is arrogant or lacks common sense for mailing a marriage proposal.

Wrong. A gold-digger would have said yes. His lazy proposal was the real trash.

not necessarily, her father was shady enough to keep the ring and she lied about it...maybe they were glad to get free stuff but not be attacked like miss ireland. he gave her and her family stuff with that proposal, so maybe he was trying to be romantic...

it was something different. but that being said he is a dallas cowboy, it's hard to go incognito in the us. he would do better in europe.

Mailing a proposal??? Umm I guess thats original:smt043

But seriously she seems like a real bitch as well.

That proposal was pretty lame. I don't understand why he didn't do it in person.

What do you expect from an overrated 1st round bust? Only reason he still has a job is because Jerry Jones wont admit he was wrong in trading for him. I wouldn't even pick this guy for my fantasy team.

In the mail? Who would be dumb enough? Guess she sorta did him a favor. He's better off without her.

lame proposal...who does that? who proposes without knowing that a yes is a sure thing? very odd situation...major embarrassment for him...she should have given the ring back before it went this far...

Wrong. A gold-digger would have said yes. His lazy proposal was the real trash.

You can tell that she's a gold digger just by the fact that she had any type of relationship with him. No way that miss barbie doll, pageant queen from fuckin' Texas goes anywhere near a brother if he doesn't have serious bank.

And you can tell that he's a dime-piece/arm-candy addict just by the fact that he had any type of relationship with her. No way that star WR from the fuckin' iconic Cowboys! goes anywhere near a white chick if she doesn't have a serious killer body, face, legs, tits 'n ass...and a fuckin' Texas pageant queen title, to boot.

Actually, the first Roy Williams you posted is the one who got jilted at the altar by Kelly Rowland.

You're right & my bad...I went back & deleted his pic! Plus I guess Kelly dissed the other Roy Williams so she could run around & be seen hugging up with white dudes!:smt104

In that last photo he took a dress cue from Russell Simmons. Guys who get all dressed up and then put on tennis shoes drive me crazy. .......

You call that dressed up? Dude's wearing a collared shirt that isn't tucked in, a cheap tie and stonewash jeans. He looks like a fuckin' clown sneakers or otherwise. If I were in his position, I'd be rolling in tailored suits every time that I went out in public.
