Harry Belefonte: Obama has failed black people.

Realistically I do not see what all the huff is about. Obama being elected POTUS has brought out all the racist both black and white and has forced everyone to take the proverbial masks off.

In regards to his performance so far, what can you expect from any POTUS. I do not care who is in office, that person would still have had to inherit the tomfuckery of the Bushes regardless!

I have NEVER heard one Black person refer to a White person as a 'slavemaster'.

IMO that's something a White person THINKS a Black person might say, but is so off the mark.

 

A Black person rarely sees the power dynamic of a modern U.S president and that of 18th/19th century slave holder as comparable or worthy of the same derision.

 

When it's for the people there's bureaucracy and checks and balances, but when the military industrial complex (and the like) come a calling, there's Presidential directives.

The black communities that you are refering to ironically was during segregation. You had black communities like BLACK WALL STREET in Tulsa,OK or ROSEWOOD in Florida, HARLEM in New York or the south side of Chicago. Even as early as the 60's when you had the DEACONS FOR DEFENSE who were black men that use to patrol the black community in the south against the KKK. There was a total of 62 chapters.

This was where Huey Newton got his idea for patrolling the black community against racists cops in Oakland, CA when he started THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY FOR SELF-DEFENSE back in 1967. Just like the DEACONS FOR DEFENSE use to walk around with shotguns, Huey did that same thing in Oakland. THAT was what scared the shiit out of the white establishment in California at that time, black men armed and walking around with shotguns.

BLACK WALL STREET was an all black community that had 35 city blocks of black owned and operated businesses ...... 35 BLOCKS. Grocery stores, barber shops, funeral parlors, hardware stores, etc. The problem was the white community that was across the railroad tracks were jealous of the black people's success. On June 1, 1921, they made up this rape charge against a young brother who brushed pass a white woman on an elevator. A race riot broke out and the whites looted the black people's homes and set them on fire to cover up their crime. The blacks fought back but the whites had the U.S. military behind them. They were even bombing their homes from airplanes.

Harlem, New York, same thing. Around the turn of the century, a black man from the West Indies named Casper Holstein started the NUMBERS game in Harlem. The money from the NUMBERS game is what people used to start businesses. It also employed a lot of blacks. AGAIN, that was the problem. Dutch Shultz, who had ties with the Mafia and their political connections, wanted to take over the Harlem NUMBERS game. Blacks fought back of course but there was too much going against them.

America is full of stories like these. Blacks can unit and create their own. It has been proven over and over, but this is AMERICA ..... enough said.

Is there a concrete way? No. All options are volatile and as long as the economy swings in weird W-shaped projections, we're in this for the long haul. We will recover eventually or even back to the path of stability, but we have to stop treating it as though all problems can be solved in the same period of one season of 24.

seperate commercial banks from investment banks, put hedge funds more under the control of the sec, and hire regulators who actually regulate.

 

There would have to be more measures. Remember, outsourcing is one major problem that contributes to people refusing to hire Americans.

REGULATORS are human beings, no matter how many you get who actually regulate, you best believe it won't be long before they will find the ones who can be bought.

Hedge funds under the control of the sec??? Good luck with that one. Many hedge funds are for the wealthy, they aren't going to let the sec control shiit.

Now you see, these are probably some of the solutions Obama has been presented. These are also some of the reasons why he couldn't follow through with them.

1.)Bring ALL American Troops back home - which will save BILLIONS

2.)Re-enact glass steagall - National Banks can not lend out more money than it can't commercially accommodate (Banks can not lend out money from peoples savings).

3.)Get the /.gov out of EVERYTHING except National defense and up keep of the constitution. There should be NO standing army.

4.) While I'm at it....why do we even need to be in a super Union called America ? Let's have states govern themselves and trade amongst each other without direction from a congress. (the way it should lawfully be despite being a United States)

5.)KILL NAFTA

6.)ABOLISH, CIA, FBI, NATO, WTO and the UN

Reduce corporate taxes to single digit amounts and eliminate personal income taxes.

DEFINITELY ELIMINATE PROPERTY TAXES !

The, .gov should be running on bare bones bare minimum income.

also...Businesses SHOULD have the right to outsource if they want, but heavily tax any international goods and services.

create a DIRECT democracy like Switzerland. Decisions don't get made unless the people decide so.

we black people must do things for ourselves and stop looking for superman to do it. a post earlier stated the history of the black wealth (he posted the black wallstreet and rosewood in page 5 so no need to talk about it). In a way intergration destroyed black business because we wanted to go shopping outside our community and give our money to people who hated us. today, the black business is on life support and we are depending on the govt. why ? depend on ourselves. we have enormous amount of talent we can use to build our wealth. we need to use it for us and sell it to them.

remember obama is a polictian. also, one thing I know off the top of my head. Obama changed the drug laws that was racially motivated.

Obama's dad was a PhD candidate in Economics, not a 'goat herder', but I get your point.

I would seriously think about not running if I were him, but he would catch so much hell if he simply exited stage left instead of standing up in middle of the political ring and allowing himself to get knocked out in a general election.

Other than Romney, I think most Americans would be afraid to elect the RIght Wing whackos running for POTUS over Obama.

 

As much as I personally don't like any of them running, I will say I lived in MA while Romney was governor. He had a solidly Democratic legislature, so he did not get to move the state right - as a matter of fact the state moved left while he was in office. His views were more moderate then, on things like reproductive rights.

One thing America constantly overlooks is that all politics is local. They bitch about Congress but keep sending the incumbents back term after term. If we worried less about Obama and more about our Reps and Senators, we might be in better shape. You see how a solidly Republican congress has hamstrung Obama - though frankly he's not remotely far enough left for my taste, since the 2010 midterms he's been rather more behind the 8 ball than he was because of Congress. If we "throw the bums out" of congress it won't matter nearly as much who the president is. I wouldnt vote for Romney, but if we make a change each in our own reps, we might have the votes to get something done (though the Democrats need a spine first).

 

there you go right there. Look at what happen in wisconsin. they had an opportunity to move repub's out of the office of their local government (remember they were trying to bust up the local teachers, fire fighters and police unions) and they needed to cpature three seats to get a majority and they came up short by one. they in the first place put in a wacko governor that tickled their ears now look where they are at.

 

If Obama wasn't black, would you be advocating that he just resign? Why doesn't he deserve to run for a second term? Especially if he's unchallenged on the Dem side, and his opponents are so far to the right that they're unelectable in the general?
