I have to wonder, given that he's claiming he can't afford child support and that he apparently threw his wife out when she wouldn't have an abortion, if this is really true or an attempt to escape his responsibilities.

Either way, this broke ex athlete thing is so common I believe the league should enforce financial management and counseling courses when they sign these guys.

 

I agree with you. I dont think they should force anyone to do whatever with their money but in the same note they should every so often like every month or so and advise them the availability of financial advice

 

Indeed. You take a kid who is 22 or so, who may not have come from a privileged background, throw millions of dollars and fame at him out of nowhere. He hasn't got the understanding of how to handle *any* of that, and it's easy to get into financial trouble.

Hell, how many of us have gotten into a bit of a jam when we first had a good paying job, or our first credit card? The only reason more of us did not get into a bigger mess is we didn't have the resources to do so.

 

you are so right on every point. It seems the media and us alike seem to enjoy people who are wealthy (especially athletes) to go on the skids. it could be the fact that we ordinary folks are amazed that they have millions and blow it.

 

Indeed, though many who are amazed also got themselves into a financial jam or two when they first had some money, albeit on a much smaller scale.

When I was married, my ex ran up about 30,000 worth of debt on *my* credit cards at 24% interest. It took me years to climb out of that hole.

 

all man. My ex did the same type thing. I gaurantee you that if you had ran a credit check before you gotten married then you would have found out he had bad credit.

 

Even though I don't have someone,if I do I will have her credit checked before I marry the woman. As for that football player he better pay his bills,child support,and just play football. I do believe such homeboys are not taught the value of money:being broke,spending more than they need,and getting broke again.

 

No doubt. I knew he didnt handle money very well, but since I was used to older guys and he was a year younger than I was, I figured it was a maturity thing. I didn't realize he was a compulsive spender who didn't give a damn about the consequences.

 

He ain't broke, dude trying get those $271 a month Master P child support payments. Smart in my book, football money ain't as long as everyone thinks when you live that lifestyle.
