Meh, gonna have to disagree on some points in this one. For the simple fact that it's our own brothers and sisters, sons and daughters who are wasting years of their lives in Iraqi deserts only to come back to find out they'll be deployed yet again. As far as taxes, maybe they are at their lowest in 60 years, that doesn't mean they couldn't be allocated better. Personally, I wouldn't mind significantly reducing foreign aid spending (everybody hates us anyway), reduce defense spending (yes, I know.... once we do this the big bad terrorists and the chinese will skull fuck our dogs). Increase spending to education, science, social security, aiding our own destitute, and healthcare.

I'd also be in favor of wiping out New York and planting trees and zebras and shit.

Hippie land would be nice.....

The debt limit was raised in order to not default on loans. What's wrong is thinking that we should default on loans. You have to pay them off. The problem is this republican party that refuses to raise the taxes to pay for this stuff. Pay for it. on the democrat side cut the benefits. Stop giving money to Israel and every other country! Stop giving money to the farmers! Stop giving breaks to corporations when we can't afford it. let their butts handle that mess.

 

Since 2003 we got into a war in Iraq along with Afghanistan and the US is going broke. Bomb Pakistan? I doubt it. If we do it will be covert with drones.

Yes, as the history books show there have been countless examples of good ideas promised "without error" that have actually occurred "without error".

Strategic thinking demands an accurate assessment of the potential benefits against its risk. Everyone knows that.

The problem with war, or oil drilling or anything else is that we all have a different opinion of WHOSE benefit should be gained or WHOSE risk should be suffered. Some people view Pakistan as "their country".. others, like a "kitty litter" box to be blown up because of decisions made by others.

I've spent enough time viewing testimony of civilians whose arms and legs have been blown off;sexual identity destroyed by rape;whose children have had their heads blown off to be "casualties" for which the offending state is gravely sorry;families fractured never to be put back together;time walking through streets of Liberia still smelling of blood;seeing men, women on both sides of various conflicts shuffle into courts broken to be pretty adverse to blanket calls for physical conflict.

I've seen defence for alleged crimes at war defend a case grandly, and then vomit profusely in the toilets and wash it all down with scotch and coke or just 'coke' at the bar afterwards.

I've grown tired of it, and the arguments are circular and endless.

I can't ever really distinguish much between the broken bodies and dreams of people on either side of a conflict that allied troops are sent to, or those who wander unhelped at the behest of a dictator in a country the West does not choose to pick up the mantle for, or those who wander unhelped in a country the West has picked up the mantle for, cold and hungry and unable to access the benefit of the riches in their own soil right beneath their feet.

What you wrote about is secondary....an aside and really didn't disprove what I said. This war out of all other wars in US history is taughted as the least participated in US History. The smallest percentage of Americans have fought this war, thus the need for multiple deployments.

The everyday American citizen simply has no dog in this fight, and most could give a shit.
