Exactly. I get so much more from the experience with the book itself. It's also a great way to unplug/escape from technology, which is nice to get a break from once in a while.
I have stacks of books that I want to read. I told myself that I was going to stop buying them but obviously never happened...I need a good solid week or two to just do nothing but read. Now that I think of it, that just may be my next (dirt cheap) vacation...
Same here. I :smt049 books! I understand completely. I usually go overboard when it comes to buying books, but I can't seem to help myself. It's nice to have uninterrupted reading time, and IMO that wouldn't be a bad way to spend a vacation...books are a great way to take a trip somewhere you haven't been without all the hassle & expense.
Somehow that explains so much and not in a good way. And your ability to calculate is so far off I can't stop laughing. At least my own isn't as pathetic and looks @ at least 10x better even on a bad day.
On the topic of vacations and reading, part of the reason my current backlog is so bad is because I've decided to move some books to the front of my reading list. Right now I'm reading Australia: A New History of the Great Southern Land and when I finish I'm going to read The Fatal Shore. After that, In A Sunburned Country and Living and Working in Australia to get a taste of the modern-day culture. Hopefully I get the chance to finish them all over the next couple of months.
I don't think you're crazy, I prefere books too. I love the smell of books, the way they look and everything <3 Nothing like the smell of new books <3
Sounds like someone wants to be prepared for his trip to Australia. :smt023 As long as it takes to get there, you could probably get them all read on the plane. lol Australia definitely sounds like an awesome place to visit, and hopefully you get to be there long enough to enjoy all of its awesomeness. There are also plenty of Aussie ladies who'd probably be more than happy to show you around. Yep, I love everything about them. I also love being surrounded by books...I could spend hours at a time in a bookstore or library.
Augusta to Charlotte, Charlotte to LA and finally LA to Sydney, which from my research is a 15 hour flight. If all goes according to plan, I plan on staying six days, minus one day or so for jet lag. I've always wanted to go to Australia so I decided to just go ahead and do it. As for an Aussie lady...there's one who's already got me wrapped tightly around her finger. New Year's Eve is going to be amazing :smt003
Where do u plan to spend your time? Just Sydney or are you taking in some landmark sites Aus is known for?
There is something so special about chilling is a book store or library. I wont be so lame as to say 'cerebral" but it is...there is a wonderful aura and energy that emanates in the space.
Finished a half marathon today...feel amazing. Also going to register for Tough Mudder Buffalo with my Crossfit family for next July. Can't wait! What a day!!
Way to go, Huntress - you make me feel like such a slob for sleeping half the day away lol... so impressive and inspiring!!
