Stock prices and the Dow Jones industrial average became de-coupled from the real economy roughly ten years ago when share value became more reflective of equity speculation and less about raising capital to construct more branches and hire workers. For the DJIA to DOUBLE under Obama's first term yet unemployment remained stagnant is really unprecedented in American history. When profitability is related more to FIRING workers and moving production overseas than hiring more employees domestically, cutting taxes alone isn't going to magically create jobs that aren't there.
Companies are not going to hire without having the demand. This is why we need to lower individual income taxes. So people can save, invest, or spend their extra money. But right now, most Americans do not have disposable income. So companies are keeping costs low right now until there is a recovery. When you have great demand, then you have a competition between businesses which is great. That's when businesses hire more and expand operations.
:smt038:smt038:smt038 Some people want to pretend that employers will happily hire more americans for 10/hour over paying someone in china 5 dollars per day.
Some people like to pretend that every company is paying someone in China $5/hour to manufacture something. There are millions of different businesses in the United States. Some people also like to pretend that everyone earning more than $250,000 is a hedge fund billionaire. When in actuality more than 54% of small businesses file as personal income taxes. So Obama will be raising taxes on them 5%. Offering tax breaks to companies who hire here in the United States is a good thing. I posted the example of Austin, TX offering Apple a tax break if they built a new facility and hired people from their area. Apple built a $300 million facility and plans to hire 3600 people over the next ten years with salaries averaging $54,000-$73,000. That's the power of offering tax breaks to corporations...high paying and stable jobs. http://www.statesman.com/news/business/apple-plans-3600-new-jobs-for-austin/nRk7Q/
Give me a break. You know as well as I do that it is cheaper to hire people in china and Mexico. The Chinese love republicans because they tend to ship jobs there. If you have $250,000, chances are you are doing fine compared to the average salary in the united states. To avoid taxes, all you have to do is hire more americans. Plain and simple. You can't have it both ways! How else do you pay down the debt? You are sitting there complaining that he is raising taxes to pay the debt down. At the same time, you complain that the debt has grown. cutting your expenses doesn't pay a loan faster than putting more money to it. I am glad you are pointing to the democrat mayor of Austin, Texas plan. I like it too. Obama has a simliar plan of hiring more people to avoid taxes. I can respect your opinion on good plans! You picked a good democrat plan!:smt038
