Will Spain 'count' America's Votes in Nov Elections? *(Of the electronic votes only.) Ok, tell me it isn't true. Please? And if it is, does this seem right? (Heck no. About as right at Tagg Romney I would think). But is it safe and secure?.... And... So who runs this company? (George Sorros is invested in it)... Just so you know this story has been out there for a while and many are reporting on it...except the liberal media. Say it ain't so....
If you live in this State...they will count your electronic vote: States currently using Scytl and SOE Software state-wide (from the SOE Software website): Alabama Arizona California Colorado Washington DC Florida Kentucky Michigan Kansas Illinois Indiana North Carolina New Mexico Minnesota New York South Carolina Texas Utah Washington Other states such as Arkansas, Virginia, Mississippi, Oregon, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Georgia and others use the company’s e-voting products on local levels (also according to the company’s website). For more on the methods and this company... http://www.whiteoutpress.com/articles/q22012/foreign-company-running-us-election-systems647/
Why do our political leaders deliberately invite controversy into our election process?? IMO the federal government should be the sole entity responsible for tabulating votes in national elections. Contracting out electronic voting to foreign companies who own proprietary software that can't be corroborated as secure is just asking for trouble. I don't like it.:toimonster:
How so, Soul? Can you explain? It's already a FACT, this company has counted our military votes. Our own Congress awarded SCYTL’s the contract to process internet voting by American citizens and members of the military overseas. The company even boasts this! So exactly how is this a myth?
The 'myth' part is that votes are going to be tabulated overseas. Most states have laws against votes being counted elsewhere.
This. Much like the hanging chads fiasco in FL, and then the Supreme Court decided? That was ludicrous. Much like Romney's son being affiliated with the voting machine company in his State. It's incredible to me. He needs to remove himself/allties/sell it, asap. At least with the paper votes in some States, one can recount if needed. And that "one' would also be American.
But the votes does go through Spain's servers. Not only can they be intercepted, they already have. They're tabulated there. This isn't a Spanish company based here -it's in Spain. Run by Spanish workers. They should NEVER be able to see an American vote.
I have to read the article link more closely, but I believe the Spanish company only provides the software, maybe the machines. I don't see how votes would be re-routed through offshore servers in Spain in order to count them. Regardless I don't think a foreign company should be tallying votes in U.S. elections. This statement is very likely untrue; And although the votes will be cast in hometown, American precincts on Election Day, with the Barcelona-based SCYTL taking charge of the process, they will be routed and counted overseas. It's against local and federal election laws for votes to be counted overseas.
I recall seeing that somewhere...I will see if I can find it again. I could be also incorrect on that. Here is the actual company and what they do...quite interesting. http://www.soesoftware.com/ *** EDIT: Ok, when I wrote this ^ you hadn't added more to your post and that's most likely where I saw it ...and since you say it's most likely untrue, perhaps you are correct if that was the only source where I recall reading it.
What bothers me most about electronic or touch screen voting machines is why don't they issue a paper receipt and a corresponding ID # once you vote?? ANYTHING can be hacked IMO, if you're familiar with the software code.
If you ask me, it would seem that to have a non biased source count the votes would be the best option. Not necessarily people in spain. But at least someone who has no vested interest (read-gaining profit) off of the results. *ahen* that goes both ways...btw.
Well now, I was just listening to Coast to Coast AM radio show ....discussing this? WTF? :smt108 Andreboba, your suggestion/idea of a receipt is sounding pretty damn good right now.
What's scary is those electronic voting irregularities in N.C. were reported like they were 'normal' buggy glitches in the software. It's just so beyond unacceptable that this would happen by 'mistake', and you couldn't fault people for thinking it happened on PURPOSE. This is the same complaint the Dems had in the 2004 presidential election in Ohio when the exit polls favored Kerry, but the electronic voter tally said Bush won. If there was credible evidence that shadowy political entities were trying to steal elections through the use of electronic voter machines, it would be the one event IMO that could push this country to the brink.
You make a very good point ^ And I would imagine that if it's happening here, who is to say it can't happen in reverse elsewhere? America the Free is as good as her word, you know. And right now there is soo much suspicion going on on either side, it is sounding a bit like Russia or dictatorial countries where they manipulate the votes, regardless of what is cast. BTW, you don't "callibrate" electronic machines, do you? It''s either on or off switch. No pull levers here.
There is an African adage which says the person who slits people's throats while they are asleep is afraid to sleep with his throat exposed". We all know which party engaged in voter fraud in 2000 and they are sounding alarm bells when there is no cause for alarm . Pathetic and a waste of time.
:smt023 Agree with you! But yeah, how did that even work...little bits of paper.....Should never have gotten to the point it did.
I was just thinking though...does this even matter in the end? It's the electoral vote that counts. I mean, Gore won the popular vote but Bush won the Electoral. And while Obama won both, it appears Romney "might" win the popular with Obama taking the Electoral. Why again even have the popular vote? Is it in-case there is a tie? And if so, would this be an instance which I hear of where we could crazily have a GOP President and Dem VP, or vice-versa?
