I get what you're saying, but there are supposed to be all kinds of measures in the workplace now to prevent that kind of open discrimination. Or, like RF said, is it subtle? They simply only hire non-blacks as servers & bartenders? And kitchen employees would use the back entrance, which is common in many restaurants. Hey Army! Thank you for the compliment! Always enjoy your posts, btw. I agree with you, but I still go back to my original question & ask why it even had to be made public. Someone wanted to make trouble & they sure did, because as Ra said, she's a celebrity. At first, that bothered me, but now as I'm learning more....I don't want to say she deserves what she's getting, but certainly, she needed a serious wake-up call.
I think its great!! If that kind of stuff went on in my workplace, I would make a fuss. You don't have to be the victim to stand up against a foul practice. You just have to be human with a loving heart.
yeah, just be careful of doing that because you could lose a lpot. if you are going to do it...make sure you have a job lined up. employers (buisness owners) talk top others and they will black ball you. it has and will copntinue to happen. so be cool on that.
Like I said, ignorance on any level shouldn't be tolerated. Someone saw a whole crap load and rather than let it slide & say "not my problem" they stepped up.
As noble as it sounds, she didn't bring suit for racial discrimination of others, since you can not sue on behalf of others. She in fact sued because Bubba sexually harassed her and other females, he assaulted and battered her, AND for his humiliating conduct and treatment towards her employees. The multitude of offenses hasn't stopped Deen's lawyers however, from trying to seize upon the discrimination portion and have the case thrown out, citing recent case law. In part, they claim... "Jackson cannot enforce someone else’s rights, and she has no actionable claim for feeling 'uncomfortable' around discriminatory conduct directed at others;" they wrote, before quoting Bermudez v. TRC Holdings, Inc., "'if unease on observing wrongs perpetrated against others were enough to support litigation, all doctrines of standing and justiciability would be out the window.'" (Here is their motion to dismiss deenfiling.pdf ) *** For anyone interested, here is Ms. Jackson's original lawsuit. The first few pages gives you the gist... Jackson-v.-Deen-et-al.-Complaint.pdf
When I refer to ignorance of all levels that includes sexual harassment and bullying or any other kinds of behavior that could be viewed as disrespectful. She may have only been concerned with ignorant behavior that effected her, but she brought to light just how varied the ignorance was in regards to Deen's brother & in turn Deen herself.
Ouch, lol ^ ^ ^ ^ ... And ouch! Paula Deen Gets Porn Offer A porn company that features older women called PureMature.com sent a letter to Deen offering her a six-figure deal to endorse the site. "Full figured or thin, arthritic or diabetic -- you embody our perfect spokesperson," the company wrote to Deen, adding that she's a "MILF," and they are willing to offer her "6 figures for very little work," since there is no nudity required. ********* Downfall a fait accompli!
I have some porn name suggestions: Bertha Slut 69 Gaggin' Crispy Biscuits Drive-IN Miss Paula Deen Southern Fried Goodness Tobi and the White Bitch Dick Dat Deen
Unfortunately women who look like her are paired up with virile young black guys with titles like "GILF LIKES THE DARK PIPE VOL.12"
You DO realize that Paula Deen has one vaginal flap hanging lower than the other one right? You stare at it and it starts to look like Droopy.
paula deen's cookbook is at the top of the best seller list at amazon.com...losing a few endorsements may sting for a bit...but lippy predicts that she like many others will bounce back from her disgrace... the best thing that came out of this is dialogue about what is and isn't acceptable in this country...especially in the instant media world we live in...you never know WHO is listening and recording what you say... with equality comes responsibility...which for me means that any use of the N word by anyone at any time no matter your color just shows ignorance...period...end of story...let this be a lesson to all of us...
