Ha ha Lipps, I just saw your prev post..lol ^^^

What were the doctors supposed to do - not revive her? Her husband called paramedics. They restarted her heart. He could have just called the coroner if he didn't want her to be saved.
I don't understand the 'nature take its course' comment. I'm assuming then you'd not send yourself or loved ones to the hospital to be saved to spite nature's course?

if i call the ambulance then absolutely i want everything possible done to save my loved one...once i am told that everything possible was done and that my loved one is just being kept alive on life support is when i will have to make that awful decision to let them go...meaning let their body go...

this is a tough one with a baby involved...

We know under most circumstances, the hospital would agree with you (they love organs), but the brakes here was the baby/fetus, and they were obligated by law. Even if misappropriately invoking it, I'm sure they chose to err on the side of caution until there was a definitive order to remove. The husband just saying so isn't enough, unfortunately. So I don't fault the hospital.

I bet the little girl in Oakland's family are wishing they lived in Texas right now. Funny how one family is fighting so hard to declare her alive while the other to declare her dead...the emotional polarity of both cases is perplexing. In any case, no real winners here. :(

We're not talking about other states, as I'm already aware of that. And yes, they are equally bat shit crazy too.

We're strictly talking about Texas, first and foremost. And yes, this is becoming more of a political affair because the courts are stepping in to determine this law to be unconstitutional or not, so that the husband can take her off life support. Under no circumstances should restrictive laws like this supersede the personal demands of the patient and family.

And clearly the recent law that passed last year was more of a political ploy, which made this mess happen in the first place. I just hope that the judge actually use some common sense and determine this law as unconstitutional.

    response/clarification

I believe I was making a more subtle point, but it doesn't matter. I see your point. Thanks for responding.

Yeah, I should have worded that differently. For someone who's obviously passionate about this, you do seem to be on the safe side of sanity. I actually agree with your thoughts to a large extent. But it looks like this matter is settled now. Thanks for the interesting exchange.

And yet, an entirely different approach and outcome...
