Sounds like if you did all over again the navy wouldn't have been your first choice lol.
Well I have some serious investments in the works and hopefully if all goes well financially I won't have to worry much anymore but if it doesn't military here I come lol.
I would love to learn new tech and have someone else pay for it

Well, my experiences in the Navy stunk. But at least I got to travel and education out of it. If I had to do it all over again, I would have either gone in as a corpsman (wanted to be a nurse) or gone Air Force.

That's shitty how they did him. I know the army recently changed the age cutoff for going OCS from like 31 or something to 27 or 28. I have my GI Bill benefits and on top of that can get additional tuition assistance. Healthcare was really the main reason why I'm finishing out the rest of my contract in the reserves. That's gonna save me a lot of money.

Reservists get a portion of the benefits, but not full benefits like active duty. You still get $4,500 per year for tuition assistance, $1,200 book allowance, full tuition paid, etc. http://www.goarmy.com/reserve/benefits/education.html

I should've joined the Air force. I also kinda wanted to go Navy.

    Word.

Yeah, it's hard seeing him get so frustrated because he has so much drive. He's currently at camp lejeune training w the marines for field medicine. He enjoys the Rambo stuff, but the job he will do will be dangerous if he's deployed so I hate it.

Thanks for clarification re education and healthcare benefits

    Officer candidate school

When an enlisted person completes the school successfully, he/she is commissioned as an officer

Sitting at the courthouse trying to fix a ticket situation I have going on (too much fast and the furious driving lol) and there are 3 bm/ww couples chatting about how their families disowned them because of their relationships. They're all from the east coast. The men all agreed that they could've brought home any color woman other than white and they'd have been accepted. So sad that this kind of shit still happens. Interesting to hear their stories though, and how different they think things are out here in San Diego (with regard to acceptance of IR relationships). Cool convo to bide the time for this nosy rosy :)
