I literally wept over this. You'd think with all the killings and mistreatment that's made the news lately that we'd all be desensitized to this stuff but this is truly heart breaking.
All these blacks being killed around the country by the hundreds, and this is what makes you weep? Come on son
Yeah because he was lynched he was a boy. There's nothing questionable about it not some gangbanger not some wanna be tough guy no possible resisting arrest no avoidable confrontation with some douchebag just a boy who was beaten and hung like its fucking 1852. Surprised it doesn't make you weep fam
THANK YOU. Essentially they're saying that we should hold police to the same standards that we hold our gangs to, and that by expressing any sentiment toward blue on black crime means that you are not capable of also being concerned with black on black.
I'm just saying that all life is important I'd like to see the same amount of coverage, concern and conviction when it comes to any injustice in the community, which is struggling and lagging behind as a group on many fronts Black people are dying all the time yet no one fishes the net looking for examples of it to bring to light, unless it looks like a hate crime (white) or police (blue) be real now One of the perks of living in a city like Philly, Detroit or Chicago, is that you see so much more shit happening that no one gives a real fuck about People should have been holding month long marches, endless internet debate and cries for justice way before mike brown or trayvon Martin, because while these guys represent a minuscule amount of absurdity, the bulk of it lives on out of sight, not mentioned and affects way more families
Again a completely different animal and has little to do with being black and way more about poverty fam. Blacks suffer disproportionately because we've had more hurdles historically. When it comes to what you're talking about blacks should be joining more things like occupy wall st.
Ok so since poverty is the issue, blacks killed by other blacks should not receive the same national attention, support, outrage and situational disgust That's reserved for one of those rare moments when a cop is involved, because clearly that's the greater injustice I get it now, carry on
You are absolutely missing the point. So tell me what do you envision? Walk me through a protest about all the things you're annoyed at when it comes to black lives. Posters and marches pleading with drug dealers to stop killing over territory? A sit in at school until they get more updated books? I get the frustration I truly do but its a completely different argument
Historically, we have marched, rallied, block partied and held other community events to shed light on the plight and bring us together much akin to the ferguson situation While you cling to the idea that it's a completely different argument, other than the fact that one guy was a cop and one was a black kid, it's not if you actually lived in the inner city and were exposed to the movement Neighborhoods have rallied against drug dealers Neighborhoods have went on tv denouncing crime Neighborhoods have protested over poor education The whole idea in both scenarios is to bring tragedies to the frontline and rally against those who willingly contribute to the downfall I just want to see the same level of exposure on all fronts, even if that means looking within your own families and holding them accountable And if u argue about the effectiveness of protests, community action, etc etc, ask yourself this If darren wilson walks regardless of how much action was taken, do you give in and stop? Or, do you continue to take action whenever a cop potentially committed a crime, to try to bring change
The reason I say its different is because getting cops to stop killing blacks on site is a way more feasible to achieve with public attention than shedding a light on crime and poverty. Getting cops to stop pulling the trigger through protest makes far more sense then shedding a light on criminals because the circumstances that put them in that position in the first place ain't going away with protests my dude. Its a much much deeper problem and its far from a race problem.
Be real. Cops killing black youth will always draw more attention. ESPECIALLY white cops and black youths in a country with such a racially charged history as the US. The black on black crime in our communities is an issue that needs to be solved from within our communities... and there are tons of efforts being made within the communities to do just that. At the end of the day, having more money circulating in the community will begin to turn things around. The argument that black people don't care about black on black crime is nothing more than misdirection that is only brought up when blacks unite against injustices perpetrated outside the black community.
I'm not deflecting just for gp I didn't feel like creating a separate thread to discuss shit knowing full well no one would read it unless it was linked to racism Bullshit is happening all around but I'm just like wtf at the amount of cohesion and drive for one thing, and a noticeably smaller amount for the other The world literally exploded over ferguson while everything else is like business as usual There was actually a conversation like this back when sandy hook happened The world was on fire over such an event, meanwhile little national fuck was given to the hundreds of murders in my city alone #whatelseisnew
Blacks need to stop letting their kids run buckwild in the streets late at nite, have them do their homework and not view teachers as govt issued babysitters.
In my house, my parents were split and my mother worked a standard 9-5 putting in OT hours whenever she could. Typically, after school I'd be out with my friends and there was literally nothing that she could do about it. We'd get into huge arguments at times, but.... so what? My parents didn't 'let' me run buckwild in the streets late at night, they just couldn't stop me.
