http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/....html?utm_hp_ref=black-voices&ir=Black Voices Remember a LOT of homeless people have bonafide mental illnesses, so get off your high horses. Walk a mile in their shoes before you judge them as lazy or assume they are at fault for their situation.
This is a very nice thing they are doing. There is a city in Florida where it is illegal to feed the homeless. They arrested an 80 yr old priest for doing so.
Yeah this whole don't feed the homeless movement is catching on Supporters say that it's to protect them from predators and funnel them to city facilities Opponents say that it's discouraging acts of benevolence from your fellow man Personally I think it's best and safer to have the homeless frequent facilities off the streets (you have wicked people out here and violence against the homeless is rampant). I don't know who operates stuff here but I would definitely support government-ran dining halls and other stuff. At least then they would be held to standard and reachable through the same network The homeless need MUCH more support than what they have, and like I said many of them can't work and suffer from mental illness. If the people/governments don't want to protect the most vulnerable, then be real and offer them voluntary euthanasia to ease their suffering. It would be better than being the subject of widespread apathy from the more fortunate.
I side with the idea that you don't give money to the poor. If they were good with money, would they be poor? but food is another matter. Everyone has got to eat. I don't know why Fort lauderdale made such a decision but it was the wrong call. I imagine their excuse may be that we have designated areas to give free food i.e. homeless shelter but I really never checked up on it.
Attacks on the homeless are a national concern They're very vulnerable and the cities just want to protect them That's what it looks like to me Would YOU eat food from a random stranger on the street? Be real son, what do parents teach their kids as soon as they can start to walk
I thought FLL was more progresive than that. Whose business is it if I feed a fellow human. One of yo ur better posts, Petty. Great read. *Except perhaps your euthinasia suggestion due to the mental illness aspect.
I'm not trying to be a smartass or cruel I'm also not very religious (I masturbated myself out of any religion by now) and don't view suicides/euthanasia through the lens of stigma If the people have a problem with their tax dollars going to feed the poor.....if the governments aren't willing to provide them with a place to crash AND stay during the day.......why should voluntary euthanasia (if u want to live in the shadows of society, more power to you) be off the table Should we not have mercy and look to end their suffering as painless as possible, if they want that What kind of life is it when you have to wait in line for a bed at a shelter, or sleep on the streets if it's full WTF people
I'm off the deep end for wanting to offer the homeless alternatives (voluntarily, nothing forced) to living in pain and fear on the streets I'll accept that I'll also accept what that makes people like you
You remember when I suggested that we have test for voting and you pointed to how that worked out in the past. It was used an evil way. I am pretty sure this will be too. People are going to take advantage of the poor. mark my words.
This was/is the primary argument against physician assists suicide/death with dignity in terminally ill patients I'm still waiting for that to occur just like I'm waiting for increased violence with the removal of 'stop and frisk' protocols I've thoroughly imagined myself as a homeless beggar (because one should always be prepared) and it wasn't a pretty sight Add to that the fact that philly actually CLOSED one of its major shelters and it gets only worse Whether or not they replaced it...i dunno As I wrote before, many homeless people are incapable of working or providing for themselves and are in the streets because they literally fell through the cracks It's disgusting and if you've been homeless or truly felt what it would be like to be chronically homeless on a day to day basis, you'd realize something needs to change
As you imagined ... Did you see yourself committing suicide? Terminally ill patients are different than folks who are perfectly healthy and just need a hand up or those who are not mentally sound. I feel that people will offer death to those who do not comprehend what it is because they are too mentally unstable to understand.
I jumped in front of a septa bus my first night What the hell do you mean I can't play my video games?!?!?! *thud* For the record euthanasia is not 'suicide' I mean it is but it's in a more controlled environment under the supervision of a medical doctor...hence the terming physician assisted suicide I'm for euthanasia even if you aren't terminally ill...maybe I am off the deep end What do you mean I'm black!?!? Give me the injection, fuck this shit /sarcasm
She doesn't want us to know she's a white person who watches paul mooney It's ok bliss, ur not the only one
