Lol. I Bakersfield is part of my territory and in absolutely hate it. I actually likemSac but I wouldn't want to live there, but I think you are absolutely correct about a good place to raise kids. Yes, I wouldn't want to live across the bridge either, tbh.
I have not. Is it more reasonable than in San Mateo? Is it too far to consider if you're working in San Mateo?
Because you are not a lovely blonde or whether or not you will get hired? Don't worry. I'm sure you'll do fine in Cali.
Fingers crossed! Cali sounds fun though. And this opportunity currently on the table sounds amazeballs. Whatever is meant to be, will be though. I'm not stressing over it (yet, until I have a deal and gotta start packing, lol)
I lived in San Fran from 1998 - 2004. Sure it was expensive, but pay is better too. I made 70k as a waitress. And had the time of my life. Most beautiful city in US. But "would go to cali strictly for the weather" (Big E)
I loved Monterey. Just minutes from Carmel which is an artsy area and only an hour from San Francisco, which I loved. The weather was balmy most of the year. I'd move there in a heartbeat if I could move anywhere.
A woman told me that the water in the Pacific is a little cooler than on the Atlantic if you go to the beach. Give the place, the opportunity and yourself time. Something will work out.
Is caltrain public transportation? In South Florida, the idea of public transportation is rather frightening. But, we can be a bit backwards/behind on some things.
I used to take the bus in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. I know what you mean. But I do like the tramcar rides in downtown Miami, though.
I used to take the city but (or "the shitty bus," as I used to call it) with my mall-rat (and the like) friends when I live in Fort Lauderdale during high school. I've taken the Miami city train thingy to/from Ultra once or twice, but that was just a one big party... caravan. lol Public transportation is huge in Europe, but here in South Florida... not so much.
Clint Eastwood was the mayor of Carmel. He even filmed some scenes of the film Sudden Impact there. "Go ahead, make my day."- Inspector Harry Callahan
