Why do people talk like the USA is the only country dealing with mental illness???

The issue is the ease of access to firearms in this country and the oversaturation of firearms.

If France or the UK had 1.2 firearms on the streets for every one of their citizens, they'd see the same amount of mass shootings too.

The truth is obvious but no one wants to admit it.

It's easier to get federal regulations on the plastic wrapping on American cheese slices because they're a choking hazard than it is to require background checks and registration for all gun owners.


Americans are either stupid or they don't really give a shit about these mass shootings because every time they happen, not a damn thing changes to our gun laws.

 

And who is saying mental health is the only factor in this? Guess you have all the answers.

I'm tired of these mass shootings, but this is a time where our politicians shouldn't do anything. They obviously don't know why the shit keeps happening or have any plausible solutions, so they should stay put rather than making things worse.

If there is a solution it will be found by being proactive, not by knee jerk emotional reactions.

 

When the next mass killing is done with machetes and a baseball bat, I'll stop thinking ease of access to guns and mental illness are the main culprits.

I am all for 2nd amendment but this mass murder is a huge problem in this country. I used to think guns aren't the problem but I think I am shifting my position on this. The ready to go easily availability access to guns are the problem. I am siding with Obama on this one, we need strict gun laws and we have to make sure they are enforced. We can't just continue to blame mental illiness, we can't continue to say identify all the crazies then find some meds to level them out and even their brain chemicals, that's bs.
I don't care how crazy you are, you are not going to pick up a sword and walk in to a campus lecture hall and think you can murder 10 ppl in split seconds. Even a full pledge unstable off his meds schizo knows that is not possible , so he won't attempt it.

Either you got to get rid of gun free zone and all of us gonna have to walk around packing heat like wild Wild West or have a strict gun law.

I used to say the focus should be on the user but not the gun but clearly going to the store and buying a gun like a pack of gum appears to be the issue in this country
