I'm not a big fan of this new format, but I have noticed I'm not getting Alerts for many threads of which I know I'm following. Also, getting email notifications is touch and go. Any thoughts on why this could be?
W Was the alert set up from the old forum or this newer version. Maybe it didn't carry over. Maybe unfollow the thread then re-follow?
Many of mine didn't carry over when we swapped over to the new format for some reason. I had to go in and redo my settings under Preferences, and then I had to re-add a lot of the threads to my Watched Thread list (there's also a Watch Forum option if you're interested). It wouldn't hurt to check your Alert settings too, if you haven't already.
I can understand if some didn't carry over, but I'm talking about the ones that I recently posted in, I'm not getting alerts or they're coming sporadically.
Is your browser set to update every time you visit a page? On the keep 1 drop 1 you did not reply to the last post which makes me wonder if your browser is not set where it's updating when you visit the page. Try that?
I just finished talking to Webbie about it, and he says you're not the only one having the issue. There are a lot of alerts/email notifications bouncing back as rejected due to an incompatibility issue with the service providers and our current software version, basically showing up as spam . All we can do is hang tight and wait for the new update, which he's hoping to start on soon. He says the update should fix the problem.
I have to laugh at myself. Outside of business hours but my IT hat is always nearby as I was going into troubleshooting mode. I'm not a developer, but I was thinking... Probably a pending update.
I’m getting all of the alerts. My alerts are blowing up right now, but I think it’s because I’m sexy. If I’m feeling less than sexy, my alerts aren’t as frequent. But, when I sex it up, my alerts are never ending.
I asked him he said people are saying their alerts come in as spam. So maybe take an alert you receive and add the address to your email address book.I told him about a whole page in the keep one drop one that happened very quick wasn't there (maybe??) because you replied a whole page back. He said check your browser, Can you see alerts as they come in in the alert area in the upper right corner of this page?? Or you can't see those either in addition to your email? I added an email alert to myself for this thread. I don't have any email alerts at all for here as I get way too much email to begin with to watch anything here that close and fill up my email anymore. Seeing how this email alert thing works for the first time here.
I've also been playing around with it since talking to him, and I didn't get any alerts or emails for for the thread I experimented with. I turned off my email notification option, so I wonder if that's why I'm able to get most of my alerts. It might be worth trying to deselect the email notification option. Maybe that will help.
I turned on email notification in the keep one drop one since there are so many post there. I already got two delivered to my inbox on posts there this morning. I think changing your settings and selecting and un-selecting is good advice. Also signing in and out of here sometimes helps when things are being weird. I get both email alerts and alert in the upper right corner with no issue.
It definitely won't hurt anything to try. Apparently it's a common issue with this version. I've had an occasional alert issue here and there for other types of alerts, but nothing like this until my recent experiment. Bookie had a crapload of email notifications that bounced back the last few days. There were others too.
And I didn't get ONE alert from this thread, not even in the right hand side alerts. LOL. And I will say that almost all notifications I get in my email are coming in as SPAM. I mark them as Not Spam, but 99% of them still come into SPAM.
